Disney Platinum Pass

  • Admission for a year to all 4 theme parks (No blockout dates)
  • Visit all 4 theme parks on the same day
  • Includes Disney PhotoPass downloads*
  • Up to 20% off on select dining
  • Up to 20% off select merchandise in store or online at Shop Disney Parks
  • Standard theme park parking

I'm assuming that means it's the same as a hopper? Or am I wrong and only the platinum plus is a hopper?

thanks!

Just FYI, The “plus” part adds water park admission, Wide World of Sports (although I’ve yet to really figure out what exactly this means), and Oak Trail Golf Course.

Thanks! We aren't water park people, so I didn't add the plus, but I freaked this morning that the plus may have also been the hopper, but nope! :)

Farro--Make sure that everywhere you buy something (meals, snacks, merchandise) you ask if there's an AP discount. Some CMs will ask if you have an AP or other discount, but many won't. You'll have to show your AP card--you can get this at Guest Services anywhere--and ID. I can't imagine why scanning one's MB isn't just as good--after all, your AP information is right there--however, in order to get the discounts, you have to show them the AP card and your ID. So don't leave the card in your room or put it aside thinking it's irrelevant.

Edited to add: There are other AP discounts as well, including room rate discounts and discounts on ticketed events, like the after-hours events. Always check!

Keep your ID with the card. It's such a hassle trying to dig them both out. They always wanted our card and ID this last trip. Previously, they would sometimes just look at the AP band on my magic band and give it to me.

I think silver and above and possibly the FL resident weekday you can hop

Actually, it's not. At least, the stores do not have access to that information when the MB is scanned. We were chatting to one of the clerks about this. For security, the MB scan has very limited access that allows charging to the room but not to give access to the clerks for information beyond that. Plus, without ID, there's no guarantee that the person who has the MB and the AP card is the owner of the MB and AP. And I can verify that they will definitely require photo ID to get the discount.

DH left his ID in the room, so I had to purchase everything and charge it using my MB (not that this is a problem - it was his credit card on file) and show my AP and ID. Personally, I think after the first day he deliberately left it in the room so I'd have to do all of the standing in line while he continued to wander about and play with his phone. He, of course, denies this and I have to say that it may be 50-50 that and forgetfulness. When it comes to things he doesn't consider critical, his memory resembles swiss cheese.

All but the Epcot after 4 are hoppers .. even the cheap weekday AP.
