Help! Anyone out there have any experience with house MOLD?

I am renting a good friend's townhome. He moved to California and it was in the same subdivision as my sister and we jumped at the chance to live there. Well, he couldn't afford California and is now moving back. That's not the problem, this is...

In the past few months we've had several leaks... more like waterfalls, from my son's bathroom to the kitchen. We've had a battalion of plumbers in and out of here trying to find out the problem. We finally decided NOT to use that bathroom, after all we are moving in November and there are 2 others in the home.

I've been suffering with a major sinus problem for 2 months now. I've been to my doctor 3 times and nothing is helping. I cannot hear out of one ear and the other one is partially closed and now I've been diagnosed with a perforated eardrum. My son seems to be fine during the week but when he's home on the weekends he always ends up vomitting for no apparent reason?????

I suspect mold has grown due to the water problems in the house. My question is...

How do I prove it? Are there any mold kits available? Will this just go away when we move out?

Mostly, has this happened to anyone else?

Any suggestions will help.

Sounds like it probably is mold. It can be very very dangerous!!!!!!!! Since you are moving out soon and it really is not your property there is probably not much that can or should be done. It is most likely something that started way before you moved in. I know there are companies that check for things like this but I would not know where to start. Atlanta should have several companies. Maybe a company like Servpro could help or would know of someone to help. Servpro does clean up type work for flooding,fires and such. I have seen on Dateline and others where people have had brand new homes where the mold problem has been so severe it caused problems in the brain and other major illnesses. Be careful and get out soon!!
