HELP! Animal on the roof!

How do I keep an animal from jumping on my roof at night. This thing doesn't give up. He must climb the tree out back, and then he lands on the roof with the hugest thud. My exterminator put some things around that he said would keep them from burrowing...was that it? The ****** thing is back tonight. And I think it's somehow getting in the attic above the garage. Who can I get to fix however this thing is getting in. It seems to leave also. Looking around outside, I can't see where it's getting in. (The joys of home ownership.)

I'm guessing it's a racoon. I haven't seen the thing, but a couple months back our HOA had some trees in the neighborhood cut. My next door neighbor said after that he saw 2 racoons on his roof and squirted them with the hose. Great...now they like my place. It sounds like one. After he jumps on the roof I can hear the nails scraping. Eeeeeek! And yesterday I headed out the door in the afternoon and noticed a paw print that sure didn't belong to my dog. Could be a racoon print I bet. I would hate to cut down the tree. Would it get up there another way even if the tree were gone?

LOL! Jason, now you have me picturing a tom cat tiptoeing on Sandy's roof.

Put some moth balls out, Sandy. I know cats and snakes hate the smell of them, I bet raccoons do too.

Shannon...thanks for the moth balls tip. At least they might keep the snakes away! I've seen 3 different kinds around here. It's just great to live in the swamps.
