Ok my store has become such a big success that tonight I wanted to kill myself! Not really, but even with two/three wonderful "employees" aiding me, the line of people were driving me crazy. I simply cannot handle them alone. I already have a few people willing to help when they are on and are not busy doing other things. I know everyone has their own "VMK life" and cannot always be around to help me.
I need some people who want to work for me. People I can "call on" if you are around and ask if you can help. You are not required to always be there, or always have to work when I want you to. You can always say "no" if I ask you. That is why I need a lot of people so I have a better chance of having help. Trying to run the store alone almost gave me high blood pressure.
Here is what you need to know:
If you are not familiar with my store, it is three rooms of furniture that you can buy in stores. People without credits to buy them can come in and trade for any other furniture item they want to get rid of, regardless of value/cost. People look around the 3 rooms and come line up in the main room, where I stand behind a counter. Behind the counter are teleporters to the other rooms so I can go get things the customers want.
Since I get nothing out of this but the occasional rare item I keep for myself, I get a little upset when people do not follow rules and/or are rude.
My employees' responsibilites are easy: you stand with me behind the counter, and welcome new people. You have to constantly tell people to read the rules on the pics on the wall and make sure they follow them. (if you are interested, I'll take you to the store when it is closed and "train" you by showing you the rules). I can't see what is going on with people in line since I am busy talking to the customer at the counter, finding out what they want, going to get it, and making the trade. I also frequently have to go "re-stock" when I make trades and get new items. Your job will also be to let me know when someone is still breaking rules after one warning so I can boot them. The rules are simple but people for some reason have a hard time following them. They are:
1. Wait your turn before asking for trade or initiating a trade request.
2. Know what you want from the store, and have what you are trading with you before you get in line. I trade any one furniture item for any other furniture item. Two for two, 3 for 3, etc.
3. What is in the store is ALL that is for trade, except teleporters, ropes, turnstile, counter, etc. (stuff that is part of the "store")
4. I only take and give furniture, not pins, clothes, posters, etc.
5. No trading between customers and no asking "does anyone have teleportation magic" and so forth. There are other rooms for that.
6. NO trade or friend request to me. You tell me what you want when it's your turn (and I say when it's your turn), and I get it, then initiate the trade on my own.
7. Please don't ask if I have this or that. I can't keep track since the stock changes with every trade. Please look around!
I know that seems strict but trust me, after running the store a few times, there HAS to be some order.
These rules are posted so you shouldn't have to tell them, just have the customers read them themselves. It's simple: every picture on the wall is a rule. You only should have to tell them to read the pics when new ppl come in, and they get one warning for breaking rules. After that, tell me and I boot them. If I don't see them doing it and boot them myself.
People like to complain that it is "taking too long" or they are bored. You are free to tell them that if they don't want to wait for a cheap trade, they don't have to stay. Or something like that
This sounds awful but it really is fun helping kids that are nice and patient. Sometimes someone will give me 4 or 5 items for one thing and these I share with my employees. You are also welcome to trade with customers yourself, as long as it does not interfere with the service or cause everyone to think they can trade with each other.
I am willing to "pay" you, if you want (an item each time you help, etc.) if you want to work and want pay, let me know. If you volunteer your time, that's great! You will still get free stuff now and then
Also, anyone that has extra stuff they want to donate, it would be greatly appreciated. Earlier I got mules and stocked my store with lots of great, expensive stuff. I'm left with mostly Kellogg's game treasure chest seats and other junk
Thanks so much for reading, please post or PM me if interested! BTW, I'm usually open at any random time between about 5pm and closing, EST. So if you go to bed early, let me know if you are willing to help early but can't stay late.
I think that's about it. Any questions???
