Help Again! Can Someone give me their waitlist days?

Hi everyone,

This is a follow up to my thread yesterday. For background, I am on a waitlist for BWV, 1 br standard view, for 9 days in August. They have 8 of the 9 days, with one day in the middle missing. We do not want to move, and would not take it without all 9 days (we already have a res for preferred view). We are new DVC members.

The lady who sold me her DVC, put her name on the waitlist for me back when we were still waiting for DVC to decide about ROFR. Her waitlist came through, but she does not need it anymore. So she asked them to give me the days.

DVC does not seem to know how to handle it. First she was told it would be ok, now they are telling me they cannot do it.

Does anyone have any idea on how to handle this?

Seems to me the only way you can do this is for her to actually make a reservation with her points (in your name) and then you transfer points to her to cover it.

I don't see how you can just give someone your place/turn on the waitlist. So if she doesn't have a DVC membership anymore (or is out of points), I think you'll just have to let this go. Maybe you still will get lucky with the waitlist you have in your own name. Hope so.

Actually, she offered to do it, but it is at the end of AUG and my UY is Sept (so is hers), so the points would expire as they could not be banked at this point. So that is not an option for us.

I did not cancel my WL request. They told me they will cancel the other 8 days if I don't take them. Does that mean they will cancel my wl request entirely?

MS should not cancel any waitlist request unless you tell them to do it.

If they are holding BWV SV days for you, they must mean they will let those go back into the ressie pool - although it is very irregular for then to hold any days waiting for the rest to come through. Maybe no one else is on a waitlist for the days and that is why they were "holding" them for you.

No way should anything happening with a BWV waitlist impact a waitlist you have at WL. (Again, unless you tell them to cancel it).

Waitlists do expire at 30 days prior - you have to call and request to stay on it if you still want to do that.

It sounds like you are waitlisted for the entire stay and they have offered you some of the dates. Unless you accept the dates offered, they will not hold them for you while waiting for the missing date. If there is anyone else on the waitlist for any of those days, they will be given the dates you have not accepted.

You will remain on the waitlist for the dates you have requested until 30 days prior- the entire waitlist cancels at that time and you will need to call again to get back on the waitlist- which then cancels entirely again at 7 days.

I guess this is the same as telling MS that you want to waitlist for 9 days as a whole...meaning that if all of those 9 days became available due to a person cancelling a reservation for those 9 days, that you would get it.

But the chances of that are infinitely less than people cancelling a 3 day here, a 1 day there and your picking them up piecemeal.

If you have enough points you can waitlist both resorts.

The problem is part of my stay is at the end of August which is the end of my UY. I will not be able to cancel any days I reserve in August, plus I will need to borrow. So I am really stuck. If this were a month or 2 later, I would have no problem at all.

The other thing is, the person I just bought the DVC from got called and was told all 9 days were available (she had made that request for me 2 months ago and never cancelled it). So there are at least 2 blocks of 1br Std. floating out in waitlist land. One of them is missing 8/30.

I am hoping when they get back to the waitlists next week, they will call me again.

I still don't understand why they told me a few days ago that they had 4 of the 9 days I was waiting for but were waiting for the rest of them before they called me. 2 CMs at MS told me that. So why would they call me with 8/9 of my request? IF I had a day-by-day request, you would think they would call me with the 4 days. When I asked about it I was told just to wait. But I know I had a request for all 9 days.

I guess I am still a newbie.

You might be a newbie, but you get it. Since you had an "all or nothing" waitlist, the CMs shouldn't have been calling you unless they had the whole thing.

I have a feeling you are going to get lucky next week. Hope I'm right, LOL!
