Just back from an awesome week at VGF. 2 and a half straight days of drizzle but otherwise amazing. Anyway I'd love your thoughts and opinions. I have a 15 year old DD deeply involved in sports and 10 year old DD. DD HS sports and our work schedule will only allow us 1 big DVC trip a year. And we must go in late Jan early February. WWYD? Should we do a week at Aulani? 7 nights and allow 1 or 2 days to travel. 1 bedroom, with our yearly pts we can do island or pool view. Or Land and Sea with studio at VGF for 3 or 4 days with parks prior and 4 day DCL Dream (which I currently have reserved) with a day or 2 to follow/recover at SSR or AKL no parks, just r and r before flying home. Is there enough to do at Aulani to entertain us for a week? Hows weather for cruise portion in Bahamas and Hawaii ? Is the land and sea just too much go go GO? The prices after all is said and done would be a little cheaper for Aulani. That's really not the factor tho. I appreciate any thoughts or ideas. I know it's 11 long months away but with DVC it's 11 MONTHS AWAY!! Lol :)

My DD is also very involved in sports, and we too work our vacations around her schedule. Aulani is our home property, so I'm biased in my response :) I would say a week at Aulani. And yes, there is PLENTY to do there! Plus, it's a warm, beautiful tropical location all year long, so you can't go wrong!

If you have not been, my vote in for Aulani. It's a beautiful resort and area.

I would say Aulani, but can your children handle the long flights? Another thought travelling in the end of January from Chicago can be a bit risky
are there many flights from Chicago to Hawaii just in case of cancellations.

I would not plan to have great swimming weather in the Bahamas in January, so I think the cruise is risky in that department. I would go with Aulani!

However, if a 7 night cruise is possible, that would be my first choice, either Eastern or Western! We were in Western Caribbean 2 weeks ago, and it was wonderful!

Thanks for all your replies! Wow... everyone loves Aulani, lol. I haven't been to Hawaii since 2005 and we stayed in at the Outrigger with Dukes Canoe Club in it and had soon much fun. Geez. I have to sit down with the family and figure this out quick! I can always cancel DCL. How hard will it be at 7 mos to get a late January early February 1 bedroom at Aulani?

I think you will be ok, especially for when you want to go. We just came back and had a one bedroom, and I didn't book it until last September. Just try to keep away from the typical winter break times in February.
