Can anyone please help me. I’ve been seeing the term ADR lately. Is this a new name for PS (ie., EE now early EMH LOL)
I’m usually pretty good with all the lingo but noticed, to me, the ADR (advanced Dining Ressie...just guessing the name???) is new.
I don’t leave until 10/21/06 but want to make sure I’m up on all my info LOL
Thanks

Yes, just interchangeable terms! To most of us they will always be PS though!!

Has anyone found that when making their ADRs now that the CMs say over and over that it is a reservation? Before they used to say that it is not a reservation. For the past few days I've called to make ADRs and it just seemed that every other word out of their mouths were that it is a reservation and to be on time. I do think they are real reservations now as opposed to seating you at the next available seating. Anyone else have a clue? I've got to call today to make some more and will have to ask.

yep "ADR" IS "Advanced Dining Reservations".

As Bob P said though, I think I'll always call them PS's. LOL

Interesting. The CM's I had the last few days did refer to them as ADR's but also explained that you get the 1st available table etc just like PS's. Could be they were stuck on "auto-pilot" after going through their speech for some many years. They did tell us to be there 10-15 minutes early for each one. I think it would be the same as the original PS policy.

I think it will be funny to look back in a year or so and see if we still have the term PS around or we'll migrate to ADR. It reminds me of the POR - "I'll always call it Dixie Landings" scenario. :teeth:

I actually had a CM get kind of snippy with me when I said PS. She told me they are ADR's now in a kind of snitty way. I said, "yeah yeah, same thing different name."

Correct. From what I can tell they are exactly the same as PS's.

I really wish they WOULD make ADR's actual held tables for guests. I'd be happy to put down a CC hold if I knew there would be an actual table waiting for me when I arrive 15 minutes early. If I don't cancel and fail to show up, punish me by taking money off my CC. I wouldn't mind that at all, since I never skip ressies without cancelling first. Making people arrive 15 minutes early for an ADR, only to have to wait for a table to become available, isn't much of a "reservation" in my book.

Well I called to make another ADR for my upcoming trip and this is what I was told: An ADR is an actual reservation as opposed to the former PS which was just a seating at the next available table. I never really thought a PS wasn't a reservation anyway. Only 4 more ADRs to go!!!
