I have a great deal on a one week at windsor palms, the house has a pool as foes resort but no water slides or lazy river. Looking at either adding on to our vacation and extend our stay at the house or check out and check into a resort with waterpark and slides. If we stay at house we would add waterpark admission or beach days and if we switch we would probablyspend more on accommodations but save on waterpark. Thoughts? Travelling with school age boys and one middle schooler.

how much will the REALLY use the water parks? when mine got to be tweens they were good for like one or two days at most but then just used the normal pools. i have to imagine that there's going to be more space off property in a house so that may be of much greater benefit. the only real downside i've ever experienced being off property with tweens is not being able to just let them go off on their own to the parks but being in a house was great for us b/c we liked being able to have snacks, an occasional meal (largely to go from one of the area restaurants) and getting into the pool after a hectic day at the parks, having it all to ourselves and being able to walk just a few steps to bed.

I agree. 1-2 days at a water park is likely to be all the kids really enjoy -- even kids who are prime water park age like your kids.

An alternate thought ... compare the cost of adding on a water park to buying a membership to a local water park at home. What I mean is that an afternoon at a water park might take a Disney trip from a 9 to a 10 ... but even without the water park, the Disney trip is still pretty fantastic. Your kids might prefer to visit a local water park (may even a couple times if a membership is a possibility) on a plain old at-home-in-the-summer week.
