So we have many Disney trips under our belt, but never one in the summer. This summer, we are going to be spending 1 day in Magic Kingdom, on Friday the 17th, which EasyWDW has as Most Recommended. Is the plan below too ambitious, not ambitious enough, or ok? We are trying to hit the kids favorites, knowing we can't do it all on a summer day.

(And yes, I know my FP+ listed may not happen as scheduled but it's what I am shooting for right now)

Rope Drop

Peter Pan
Winnie the Pooh
Barnstormer
Dumbo
Jungle Cruise
POTC- I'd like to be done with these by 10:45ish?
SDMT- FP+ 10:30-11:30
Haunted Mansion
BTMRR- FP+11:30-12:30

Lunch

Splash- FP+ 12:30-1:30

Leave for break by 1:30, schedule Buzz FP+ for return in evening

Arrive back around 6 pm
Buzz
Whatever has low waits, we want to do again
Wishes 10 pm

Any tips, comments? Thanks!

Not too ambitious if you hustle. But the following sequence seems to be a bit more criss-crossing the park than is necessary or desireable:

Dumbo
Jungle Cruise
POTC- I'd like to be done with these by 10:45ish?
SDMT- FP+ 10:30-11:30
Haunted Mansion

Why not try for an earlier Mine Train FP+ and do it right after Dumbo. Then, head over to the other side of the park for JC, PoTC and HM.

Good call! I didn't even think about the criss-crossing! Thank you!

We typically go in July just about every year. We always go at rope drop and have success early, but the heat and crowds build quickly, so it might be a bit ambitious. I'm not sure how old your kids are, so I am not sure if they will be walking or in a stroller, which will make a difference. Haunted Mansion may have a 30 minute wait pretty quickly, which could throw it all off. Also I think that POTC may be closed for a refurbishment in the summer, which might help you out. I agree with the suggestion of getting SDMT earlier. You don't want to be criss crossing the park.

Hi there!!

I'm a typical July-goer. Here's my suggestions for your day.

1. I'm glad the last posters brought up the criss-crossing and you plan on fixing your schedule. Try to go in a clockwise or counterclockwise motion, if you can.

2. Do you want to meet any characters? Make sure you know their schedule, especially if you want to meet Peter Pan or Gaston. When I went in July, there was a line with a CM cutting people off before Peter Pan had even come out when my friend and I tried to meet him. There's also often a line that builds for Gaston before he comes out. So just try to have the character schedules on hand so you know what to do :)

3. Do not forget ponchos. It is always raining in Florida in July. And if you want to meet characters and the rain clouds are coming, book it to your favorite characters. I almost didn't get to meet Merida (and watched a heartbroken and disgruntled group of people who subsequently got turned away behind me) because of the storm clouds brewing.

4. Please, please, please remember to take care of yourself. I know you're a responsible adult, but I remember having to set myself phone reminders telling me to drink water, reapply sunscreen, and take a little cool off break when I went in July. The Magic Kingdom is the most exciting and fun place on earth. Especially all the one short day you have at the park, you want to do everything you can. It's good that you're taking a nice mid-day pause, but Florida is still hot andthe parks are still crowded in the morning. Just remember to take a deep breath and keep yourself hydrated and under heated. It is so hot and I saw people get carried out of the MK on stretchers every time I was at the park in the afternoon. Like I said- I know you're responsible enough to handle yourself, but it doesn't hurt setting reminders occasionally. A trip to the medic is the worst thing that can happen to you on your only day at the park :-)

Have a fun time!!! Don't forget a Dole Whip, it's my favorite way to beat the Florida heat :-)
