I am planning a trip to the west coast in the not so near future. :sad1:

Does anyone have an opinion of Catalina Island? Is it worth a day on the way from San Diego to DL? It looks really beautiful and fun. We would be coming in October next year. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I have been to WDW a handful of times, but DL and California are totally uncharted territory for us! I'm really excited but don't want to waste precious vaca time!

TIA!:yay:

HI.

Catalina Island is beautiful. I have been there many time.
A company called Catalina Express provides transportation there. Google Catalina Express. Where are u staying when at DL?

I don't have any firm plans yet, but am looking at Candy Cane Inn. I want to spend the first part of the week in San Diego, then move to Anaheim. Would it be doable to go to Catalina for a day enroute, then check in at the CC at night?

Thnaks for the positive post!:thumbsup2

I think you could do that. Go to Catalina and then check in the hotel later that evening.

Definitely take a side trip to Catalina if you dive or like water/boating activities. If not, I might skip it since you are already going to San Diego.

Catalina is a very laid back island & nice for a day trip if you have the time. If you're already pushing a tight schedule, I'd think 2x.

Just my 2 cents.;)

I love Catalina!

My favorites are snorkeling (though the water is COLD for most people), the glass bottom boats and subs, the Wrigley Garden's, walking the coast eating yummy ice cream, and just touring the city on a golf cart. You can also travel into the island to see the Bison and island interior.

I always find something new to do on the island it is so fun and I love to see the seals!

Went to Catalina over 25yrs ago. Nice side trip, unless you're prone to motion sickness. 8-10ft waves going out, smooth as glass coming back. Hint. If there are rough seas ,sit just across from the side looking out,'not' across the boat.

LOVE Catalina! Don't forget that John Davidson was gord by a Buffalo there!! Sorry, that was one of the fun facts dh took away from our amazing tour! I know :confused3
And when we go to DCA, we love singing along to "Santa Catalina" and remebering what a fun time we had there!

Thanks for all the great advise! Catalina looks like paradise! I would spend a few days there, but we have never been to the west coast and I want to spend more time in San Diego! My son also, HAS TO go to Legoland. As it is we will only have a couple days for Disneyland. We are trying to squeeze a lot into a short time.

My husband is more the leisurely traveler and merely tolerates our theme park trips. I thought the San Diego and Catalina parts would be nice for him. I may even leave him at the hotel while we go to Legoland!
