help!!! 2am & 3am telemarketer calls

help

last nite we got a call at 2am and 3 am- from telemarketers sending us faxes!!!

just got another 2 calls at 10:00 tonight trying to send us faxes.

i've disconected our fax machine--- i don't want my toner used up by junk mail

but i don't want to be awaken by these annoying calls

any ideas what i can do to put an end to these calls at these late hours???
should i call my phone company????
is it legal??? or is there lupole because they are faxing???

Do you have a separate phone line for your fax? If so, can you add it to the do not call list?

I hate these too..it's after 9pm here and I JUST got a call from so-n-so marketing about some survey. I hung up on them and that was the SECOND time they'd called tonight. Once at around 7:30 w hen I was trying to feed DS and then again around 9ish. We're on the NO Call list,but sometimes they call anyway.

Yes, it is legal (it's only illegal for telemarketers to make phonecalls at that time). Companies do this because they can bulk fax and won't get any busy signals, since the machines aren't being tied up for business purposes at that hour.

Those faxes usually have an unsubscribe number. Just write "cancel" or "delete" on it and fax it back.

These fax telemarketers probably got your number from some list of fax numbers. I would think the fact that the number is primarily your home voice phone line could land them in a ton of hot water.

Go to the FCC web site and find a phone number to call and see what can be done. It might take some faxes back to these places letting them know your number is a home number, but I would save the faxes from the ones you contact, just in case they persist.

Here we have a feature from the phone company that allows us to block the last number that called even if you don't have the number.

It's a * feature...Call the phone company and ask.

Im just thinkin- is it an 800 ## they're faxin from?

Cause if it is- I'd set that up to send a bunch of faxes to them. Wont use your toner- and would be a free call?

We get those all the time and we don't even have a fax machine! Phone rings at 2:00 am (which is terrifying because we have a teenager) and when you pick it up all you hear is this horrid screeching. Wish I had some advice, we just deal with it. I does seem to have slacked off a little in the last year or so. Only get about one a week now.

The Last time a telemarketer had called our number was maybe in 97 and I would hate it since I work 3p to 12A and around 7AM or 8AM was the best part of my snoozing moments and next thing you know the phone would ring. It was a phone company, credit card offers, winning offers etc. So finally one morning on my day off I set my alarm clock to wake up around 7ish and made coffee and some biscuit and then the phone rang. I answered the phone saying in flat tone "hello" (I am mutt part Arabian, Italian,Chinese and Philippines basically grew up like the nomads ) conversation went on like this:
ME: hello...
Tele: g'morning is the head of the household available ?
ME: hello, speak slowly hard English.
Tele: "speaking slowly" is... the.. head.. of the household available.
ME: yes we have basement, 1st flr 2nd flr.
Tele: Ma'am the one who make the decision in the house Mr.J.Doe
Me: aahh they not home , they back later when dark.
Tele: anyway do you have a computer in the house ?
ME:commuter was dat ?
Tele: A computer (saying a lil louder than the 1st time), do you have a computer:
Me: Hold on K, I look, you tell me if that commuter.
Tele: "sigh" but still waits....
Me:"dropping pots and pans in the background" OK we have white ting, you put food, food hot later... is that a commuter ?
Tele: Ma'am No ... A computer is something you can use for office works like the old type writer, word processors.
fyi: back then telemarketers get away with stuff if they get you to say yes on anything they go ahead with the offer BUT they can never hang up till you say thank you and goodbye. And if you are from the East Coast most likely that telemarketer is from the west coast at some wee hours of the morning
ME: aahhh hold okey do not go I tell you. "pause" Big white thing you put clothes then come out smell good... is that a commuter. And this went on till I have discribe every single appliances we have at home.
Tele: Ma'am maybe I will just call later.
ME: No ....This is Doe's residence nobody here name later you call Doe house remember ?
Tele: Yes I will just try to call later, what do you think is the best time to reach your employer ( mind you he already assume I was the housekeeper or something)
Me: How many times I tell you Later not live here <heavy sigh> .. maybe better you give me name I tell Mr. Doe okey ?
Tele: It's Joseph Schneider of So and so company.
Me: slowly ok I write this down. J.o.s.e. p your name okey ?
Tele: yes ma'am <really heavy heavy sigh>
ME: last name E.S.N. and cut me off.
Tele: it's Schn.. then I cut him off
ME: you don no how to write your name, ok I tell you okey E S N A Y D E R okey ?
Tele: <controling his emotions> No ma'am it's SCHN ...
ME:<argumental tone> you call here you leave message but you dont know your name, that no good for bis nis. you need go training . I go now have to wash clothes iron curtain. Me busy you call, dont know what you want ay yay yay. call next time when you ready OK!!

And every time I am off I do this to a telemarketer from cable, offers and another best one was At&T offering 10 cents a minute to call international if we switch hahaha ask the tele how am I going to get the money cash or gift certificates , the Discover would offer cards told them I was not ready to discover anything etc. And finally I guess they black listed our last name and never called again
