1. What is this with the Disney Credit Card? Can I charge my cruise on this card and get points from this charge and use these points for an excursion on the cruise for which I used the card for?

2. Am I correct that on Deck 9 you can get free milk, and ice tea?

3. These calling cards you give out as an extra for tips? Where do I get these and are there certain ones to get or avoid.

Going on Eastern Cruise in July on Magic read they made changes to the ship. When were these changes made and what were they?

Thank you to any and all that can help us.

1. Go on to the Disney Credit Card web site and it will tell you what you can redeem your points for and how you can use them.

2. Yes free milk tea lemonade, etc.

3. I get my calling cards at Sam's Club or Costco. Buy a 10 pak of them, 60 minutes each,

Don't know about the changes on the ship,

Okay, I'll throw out a few....

On deck 9, at the drink station, I assume they have cups. Should/could I bring a travel mug? Is the Iced Tea sweet? Unsweet? Is Equal available? (don't like the pink stuff...just the blue and yellow packettes!) Is this open all day? Do you know the hours? Where is it located on deck 9? I tried to look at the deck plans, but just couldn't figure it out.

THANKS! from an Iced Tea-aholic!

Yes they provide cups. The drink stations are by the mickey pool and family pool.

For others, if you are not a big pop drinker don't purchase the pop deal when you get on board. Pop is free at all the meals.

With the Visa -- You redeem the 'points' for a Disney reward card. I believe that the minimum is 20 points for 20 dollars on the card.

Points are applied to your account once a month on your statement date. My statement date is the 10th, so each month on the 10th the points earned are added to my account.

You can order your reward card on-line or over the phone. It takes a couple of weeks to get to you so order it a ways in advance. I ordered mine two months out.

The card will have an expiration date a little over a year out. The one I ordered in Oct 03 had a Dec 04 expiration date.

Once you have the card you can add additional points to it, either over the phone or via the web. I believe that the minimum for adding on to an existing card is 10 points.

So I ordered my card about the time that I put the final cruise payment on the card 60 days out.

About a month later, the points for the cruise charge were added to my reward account. I also did a lot of last minute shopping so I was racking up points at a good pace prior to the trip. I waited another month to add the points so I could get every last point on the card.

We were at WDW on the 10th of December, my closing date, so I called the day after and had all the points accumulated over the prior two months added to my card. Couple days later we were on board the ship and I had the card applied to our account.

There is no rush, I had the card applied mid-way through the cruise. Did it one night when there were no lines.

On other cruise ships we have always had excellent room service from our cabin Steward. One year we gave him a phone card the first day when he came to introduce himself. WOW he didn't forget and he was so happy we got two chocolates on our pillow. I'm sure we would have still gotten good service but I felt he went out of his way to show his appreciation. We still tipped at the end.

The big thing to remember about the calling cards is to make sure they can be used internationally.

The Magic went into drydock for 2 weeks in October. The ESPN sports bar was changed to The Stack, the new club for teenagers. Common Grounds (old teenager club) was changed to Cove Cafe, an adult only coffee cafe. (They also serve drinks here) And the improv club (can't think of the name at the moment) was changed to Diversions, a Cheers type bar. They show sports on the TVs in here and the British Pub night held on Fridays is supposed to be very funny. Also during this time the smokestack that caught fire over a year ago was repaired.

Thanks to all of you that have helped. I appreciate that you have taken the time to answer all my questions.

I've redeemed Magic Rewards from my Disney Visa already. Since I booked directly through DCL, I was able to use that Magic Rewards card as payment on my cruise. You can also take that card to Guest Relations onboard and they can put that money on your stateroom credit, which will in turn pay for your excursions.

GOOD LUCK!

The drink station is located right outside the doors to Topsiders buffet, just to the side of the Mickey Pool.

I didn't care for the iced tea they served because it tasted like a mix. At the beverage station they have great Twinnings tea bags, and I brewed the Blackcurrant flavor with some hot water, then added ice for my own great iced tea.

I'm pretty sure they had Equal, and the cups are on the small side, so bring your own mug if you want a larger serving!

Julie,
Thanks for your reply about the iced tea! and where it can be found! Sounds like I will be doing the same as you. Nothing beats fresh brewed! I am glad to hear they have Equal...one less thing to pack! Thanks again!

You're welcome! I did enjoy the iced tea I ordered for dinner in the restaurants - I'm sure it was fresh brewed and they brought me some sweeteners (including Equal!). Other evenings I had diet Coke for dinner.

It's the iced tea at the Topsiders buffet that I didn't care for. They also brought me the same kind when I ordered room service for lunch one day. It tastes like something made from a syrup. But adding sweetener doesn't help. It just has a strange taste to me. I also enjoyed the lemonade at the beverage station. I'm I'm sure it was loaded with sugar, but it was really refreshing!

Room service is kind of funny regarding beverages. I only used it once for a light lunch for my young DS and myself I asked for lemonade to drink. They said there would be a charge for lemondade (which is why I got the yucky iced tea instead!). I could order as much (expensive) food as I wanted, yet a glass of lemonade was extra. Go figure!

Oh well, I must say we really enjoyed all the food we had and thought it was very, very good (we don't get out much!). The only time I didn't like something was when I was trying something I wouldn't ordinarily eat or wanted to try something different. I usually took the server's recommondations and he was very good at picking great dishes!

Well, enough about me. Enjoy your trip - I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time!
