We have never been to US/IOA, and I am planning on surprising DH2B with a day there during our honeymoon. He loves comic books, and so Super Hero Island is a must. I really want to see shrek. So, I'm planning on a 1day/2park ticket. We need to leave the parks by 3pm due to prior arrangements. My real question is this...are there any coasters that don't go upside down, and are there any rides that a chicken like me would ride? Do the major rides/coasters have chicken exits, so that I can stand in line with him, but not ride? If someone could just point me to a website or thread explaining what each ride involves that would be great! Thanks!

both coasters have multiple inversions at IOA. the second half of revenge of the mummy is a coaster, but with no inversions. just a smooth ride with some tight turns and a couple of drops. fun attractions to try would be Spiderman, and Jurassic Park River Adventure at IOA. Men in Black, Shrek, and Terminator at US. as far as i know, all attractions have a 'chicken exit'.

You can see little movie clips of each of the rides on Universal's site. I had my 5 yr old look at these before we went.

I haven't used them, but I've seen single rider lines mentioned here, so you wouldn't have to wait very long on him at all, plus there are some great shops and a Christmas store at Port of Entry near The Hulk, and actually, all of the rides have shops at the exits.

To give you an idea of how much you can do in one day if you get there when the parks open....by 3:00 this past Sunday, 5 yr old ds (who is easily distracted, LOL) and I were able to do Spiderman, Cat in the Hat, One Fish, and Popeye at IOA, and ET, Jimmy Neutron, Woody Woodpecker, Barney, Fear Factor, and the Horror Makeup Show at Universal, and he climbed the rock wall and played in the water area at Curious George. We had a blast!

Personally, I'd take a rollercoaster any day over the simulator rides like Back to the Furure, LOL. Shrek and Spiderman are my favorites.

Congratulations and have fun planning!

Thanks everyone for helping with my surprise! So, the Hulk and Dueling dragons go upside down...am I correct? Are they the only two? I hadn't thought of the single rider lines...that would make it very easy! Do any of the rides take your picture to have for our album. I'd love to see DH having fun on the rides I can't go on! Thanks again!

Yes. At Universal Studios, photos are taken on the Mummy and on Men In Black. At IOA, photos are taken on the Hulk coaster and on Jurassic Park River Adventure.
