My wife and I will be taking our two girls ages 5 and 3 to DW for their first time. It will also be me and the mrs first time too. I am open to any advice as to where to stay. We want to stay at one of the resorts but have no idea which ones offer what. We are planning our trip in June. Should we sign up for any packages, etc.? Are there any discounts available online or anywhere else?
Thank You

Welcome to the DIS!

I am going to recommend a good book for you to get called PassPorter's Walt Disney World. This book is AWESOME! :thumbsup2 I've bought the latest edition for each of the 3 times we went to WDW. Lot's of good info and places to write stuff down so you can keep track of all your plans. Here is a link to it at amazon but you can get it at almost any book store http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/15..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=14KM2DE8WCNH1FC9X2DR

That is the 2011 edition that I believe is going to be released in December 2010.

Next, this link is some of the deals they have at WDW http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts.html Not sure what your actual June dates will be (I'm assuming June 2011) but there are some promotions running through Sept 2011 right now.

The hotels on Disney property are wonderful with each offering something for everyone. It all depends on what you will be using your room for. My family has stayed at Pop Century for our 3 trips to WDW. We love the theming and the bright colors. This hotel is a Value resort with prices running from $89 a night to $145 a night (standard room). It depends on what time of the year you go. We've gone right after Thanksgiving and before Christmas. The weather is little cool but the parks are so pretty with Christmas decorations and we've had discounted rooms or Free Dining.

You've already been given some good advice from Pikester. I prefer the "Unofficial Guide to DisneyWorld" (available at your local library or bookstore). Getting that book is my number one piece of advice for beginners and veterans alike. We've stayed at a moderate (Port Orleans Riverside) and a value (All Stars Music) resort. The biggest difference we found was that the moderate resorts have slides at the pools while the values do not. We didn't miss it, you might. Also the grounds were nicer at the moderates.
Here's two big bits of advice for you. 1. Arrive EARLY at the parks. Trust me on this... you'll thank me later. 2. Especially with little ones, but for big ones too, plan a break in the middle of the day to catch your breath/nap/relax. Good luck! :goodvibes

I agree with the advice so far :thumbsup2 Just remember to have lots of fun and enjoy yourselves :goodvibes
