Hello :) I hope I am posting in the right place

I am going on my honeymoon to disney next *****, looking to arrive late ****** 19, stay at the resort sun-sun (so sun night-sat night and check out sun) then move over to the GF for sun/tues. My question is obviously about my sun-sun stay. I was orginally planning on staying at the beach club and doing the dining plan. Over on the wedding boards a few of the girls mentioned i should really look into renting DVC because that is really the best way to go. I had been thinking about it before, but I am just really unsure of how it works. All i know is that it would be *** points. ALso then i wouldnt know if i would do the **** villas or a preferred view of the *** villas.

My question would be how do i find out how much it would be to rent? also that seems like i would be eating up alot of someone's points! so it probably isnt probable

To continue on....I would get everything seperately correct? i would get my own park tickets and dining plan? ( well i have read on here that, should i be able to rent..or go that route that i would have the person im renting from get the dining plan and then i would pay when i get there?)
also how would i make ADR would i get a confirmation number just like i would if i made the reservation?

i am clueless i know, i am sorry for bombarding you all with a million questions, its just that well i have seen some of the views that these two dvc resorts offer ( i know that you have to request those-and those are just requests...) but  the thought has me intriqued and i would be so grateful to find out any information.....this has been my dream vacation since i was a little girl so i just want it to be as perfect as it can be

thank you in advance to anyone who can help me!

i hope i wasnt too confusing

First of all Congratulations!!!
If you are looking to rent points the first thing you need to do is decide where and when you are wanting to stay. Then look on the for rent postings to find a match for the points and time of use you want to go. there are many people that rent points and usually they are points the owners are not going to use and risk losing so no point amount would be too large if it is posted as available. You can look on the Timeshare Store site listed at the top of the page for a points chart to figure out exactly how many points you will need. Yes you will have to get your own tickets but that can be done through a third party such as UndercoverTourist.com. These tickets tend to be cheaper and include all taxes and fees.We use them often and have never had an issue. The next thing is DDP. The person you will be renting from will have to add the DDP and you pay for it at check in. You should recieve a reservation conf. number and that can be used to make your ADRs.
It is very confusing when you first start looking but just take it one step at a time and everything will fall into place. I am sure some others will have additional info for you but hopefully this gets you started. Here is some pixie dust for luck pixiedust:

Teddygurl28, I edited your post. While we allow and encourage generic questions about renting, you may not include dates, number of points, or desired resort. That could be interpreted as a rental request, and is limited to the DVC Rent/Trade Board.

To address your questions, the rental price is fully negotiable between you and the DVC member. Average rental prices are in the $10 to $14 per point range, some cheaper, some more expensive. Usually they are on the higher end if you are booking a popular resort during the 11 month priority window, during that window 11 to 7 months prior to arrival, only members that own at that perticular resort may make a reservation there, all other members have to wait unti l7 months prior to arrival to book a different resort on points.

As for the Dining Plan, you are correct, the member must make arrangement with Member Services to link the plan into your reservation, and you pay for it at check-in. So far, 2010 DDP prices have not been released, and no one can add the DDP to a 2010 reservation yet.

My advice is to find an owner at one of your desired resorts and book early, even though you are looking at a slower travel season, DVC travel habits often don't match those of the general public.

Have a great honeymoon!! I've used my points a few times to give a honeymoon as a wedding present. :)

ooh goosh im sorry! i definately didnt intend to do that!

as you can see im still up and reasearching this all, i have been looking at the rent/trade boards to see how others are posted and taking it all in,

thank you both for your help!

I think this is the way for my DF and I to go as i think the studio will be great for us ( and it can be a great way to get him started on a push for our on DVC membership!! hehehe)

Thank you again, i researched those posts, as well as another that was on the rent/trade board.

I have made up my mind (DF just has to agree with me) now i just have to hope there is someone out there :rotfl:

i think i've understood the majority of everything from reading several different threads

thanks for the help!
