Hello Newbie here...how fluffy friendly is Disneyland?

thank you, thank you, thank you for this thread. my sis, myself and my hubby are taking the trip of a lifetime from Australia and our first stop is 3 nights in Disneyland however I have been stressed to the eyeballs about not fitting on the rides.

I also have PCOS and have found it really, really hard to lose weight around my middle - I am 5'10 and my legs are fine, i walk heaps it's just around my stomach and butt that i carry all my weight and this tends to be the area of most concern with rides.

This has put my mind at rest somewhat... although I am still scared of not fitting, but hearing that Disney is so 'pooh size' friendly has really put most of my worries at ease...

My sister, btw, is a size 8. I am a 24. Hubby is 6'3 and about a 41" waist. should be fun to go to a place where our relative sizes don't matter :)

Thank you for starting this thread and for all those who answered it.

I am overweight and have been desperately trying to lose weight for our trip. This trip is the only thing that has gotten me motivated to lose weight (I'm down 37 lbs and now in a size 20) and have been nervous about getting on the rides -especially the kids rides. I really want to ride on Dumbo with my 6 year old son.

I can see from the responses that I don't have to be worried about anything. I should have known that Disneyland truly is the happiest place on earth.

This board is wonderful!

Speaking as someone who has all the same problems and more. I finally had gastric bypass surgery. I also have diabetes, (gone now) high blood pressure, (also gone) and a thyroid condition, (not gone yet). I understand where you all are coming from. I decided at the age of 60 that I want to enjoy the next 10 years with my grandkids. I call them my "Disneyland years". It's only been 2 weeks but I'm doing great a feeling fine. I'm losing a pound a day. I'm not that big (was 229 when I started the whole process 186 today) but my quility of life after years of abusing my joints was taking a toll. I plan to really enjoy Disneyland when I go in 6 weeks, and since I have a pass, every month thereafter.

Good Luck!!! Have Fun!!! Sure you will have a great time!!! My upcoming trip to DL will be my first Disney trip in a long time not being "Pooh Sized" I look forward to riding everything I couldn't fit in comfortably before!!!!

Like many PP's I too have a Thyroid issue and struggled losing weight but the final straw for me was getting type-2 diabetes so I buckled down and have been successful in my weight loss efforts and even got myself off the diabetes meds in 6 months :goodvibes Good luck to everyone else in their battle!!! :thumbsup2

awww, you guys are all such an inspiration. i love that disneyland/wdw/all the other disneys are inclusive for everyone no matter what their issue, but the support on here for those of us who are secretly stressing about size/girth issues is really just lovely to see.

you guys are such a motivation to me... i've made it my mission to come back to the USA next year as a thinner & fitter version of myself, and we'll do DL and WDW up right :) :cloud9:

i'm getting on the exercise machine as soon as i finish this post :)

just wanted to say thanks for the support :yay:

One ride I did not see mentioned was the Astro Orbiter. These are tight and hard to get in and out of! It isn't an awesome ride, so if you skip it, you aren't really missing anything.

awesome, AZMermaid... thanks for the heads up.

to be honest, i was mostly hoping to ride the big kid rides anyway... indiana jones, tmrr, grr, matterhorn, haunted mansion, jungle cruise, tea party cups, star tours, splash mountain, little mermaid, monsters inc and soarin'.

we are not roller coaster riders, so on that aspect, i don't mind whether i fit or not :scared1:

also... in know i will probably be shot for saying this, but i'm kinda loving disneyland more than disneyworld.. it just seems more friendly for my family, and all the same rides are offered as at WDW, and it's easier to navigate etc. plus, imma loving the newly renovated rooms at disneyland hotel

We like DL better too. I sorta believe that if you went to one park decently regularly (every few years) as a kid, that tends to be the one you like better. We like Disneyland because everything is close and easy, it seems to have more intimacy and character, and we know where everything is! That isn't to say we don't like WDW, we do, but we prefer DL.

I have PCOS also. I actually found that my BCP was a lifesaver for pretty much all of my symptoms related to PCOS.

But re: weightloss, I am in the same position with weight around my middle and butt. I am not overweight anymore by any means, I am 5'2 and weigh 123lbs but I am still doughy in the middle and around my butt. No matter how much time I spend at the gym (I am there 4 days/week) my middle doesn't seem to change!
