hi
i am new to this site and as i can see you are all experts on disney, i would like to say hello!!!
and ask can anyone tell me were is the best cheap bargain
shops for camera's ?.
and any other info would be much appreciated. its are first time
we go in february.
i have been on a few sites for disney tickets they are cheaper
than the uk prices.

:bounce: jumping for joy.

Hello and welcome :wave2:

Sorry I can't help on the cameras bit, but re tickets, my opinion is that with the exchage rate being so good atm, I would certainly buy from a US site.

Not only are they as cheap as anything I've found over here, but now with the dollar at 1.70 ish, it makes good sense to buy them over the internet from the US.

I'll ask before everyone else does,

;) , please give us more details of your trip.

Where are you staying, who are you flying with etc.

Cheers

Craig

Hi Craig,
thank you for your welcome!!!!!!!!:chat: it's nice that some one
got back i was about to give up hope.............
we are staying in the homewood suites.
and flying with virgin.
what site do you recomend for the tickets?

merry christmas and happy new year.

If you buy your tickets online, check whether you will get the actual tickets or vouchers. And don't forget most of the US sites quote their prices before tax, so you have to add on 6 or 7%, depending which county they are in.

If you get vouchers, I believe you will have to go to guest services at one of the parks to pick up your tickets, which may be inconvenient. If you have a real ticket you just walk straight through to the turnstiles. Other people who have done this will give you more advice and let you know whether it's a big deal or not.

We bought our tickets from a UK website - www.attraction-tickets-direct.co.uk who were very competitively priced and the actual tickets came in just a couple of days.

I don't know about cameras I'm afraid - I bought one in the UK during the summer.

Hi & welcome

Sorry can't really help with your questions but re your tickets if you do end up getting vouchers, don't worry. We had them in August & found the easiest place to exchange them was guest services in downtown Disney.

Vey friendly CM's & no queue. WE called on our way from the airport & it took very little time.

i am just looking at the site ediew gave me.
many thanx for your advise much needed!!!!!!!
:earsgirl: :earsboy: we are so excited.......:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Pam,

Re tickets - I have been doing a bit of research recently into the best prices. My advice is to plan out what you intend to do each day and buy the tickets according to what your plan requires. The tendency (when you're planning your first trip) is to spend too much money and not use all the ticekts you buy. We did this on our first trip - buying a 2-week 5-park Orlando flexticket which we didn't fully use.

Good value tickets (and their sources) are as follows

Universal Orlando Bonus pass - allowing 5 consecutive days of use - link available from from Universal Studios website - cost is about $95 each including tax - assuming you collect the tickets on arrival at the park

7 day Park Hopper plus - bought from Attraction Tickets Direct - as per previous message on this topic - if you buy them from ATD then you get a visit to Disney Quest included - you don't with American ticket agencies

Also - Ticketmania is a very good site for tickets and they have special deals on tickets to places like Hard Rock Vault and Kennedy Space Centre.

I hope this helps....

Julie

ps If no-one else has told you already, then you ought to invest in a copy of the 2004 Brit's Guide to Orlando and Walt Disney World by Simon Venness - who is a regular contributor to these boards!

Hi Tugboat and welcome

About the cameras, I would try Best Buy, it's on Orange Blossem Trail on the right hand side just down from the Florida Mall. As an e.g. in this country the fuji finepix S5000 digital camera ranges between £280 - £360, in Best Buy it's $399 + 6.5% tax at current exchange rates thats about £225 according to the Travelex web site.

Hope you have a brilliant time

nor can we,well that was till our 5 year old daughter told us tonite that she didnt want to go to wdw, shes watched the disney video we got and there was a few show that shes scared of,so now shes decided she wants to stay home.
now iv got to find some idears to make her look forward to it like she was.

vicky i hope you think of something, i would just keep showing her all the best bits the kids love for the rest of your time waiting to go. there are 7 adults and only 2 kids going but i would say i am the bigest kid of them all.........:hyper:

Re cameras.

Buy from a UK supplier over the net. Check out what model you'd like at somewhere like Jessops and then go on-line. Don't forget that shops in the US have the same type of overheads as UK ones.

AND, if something is wrong with the camera you'll be covered by UK law and UK guarantees.

I second what SidB said. I got a digital camera at £100 less than its list price from www.uk.pixmania.com

Vicky - do you live near a Disney Store? A couple of trips there might help. You could maybe buy a couple of small toys, or a little bag for the plane. Once she sees how non-threatening it is she will feel better.

There are some scary things at WDW, so do your research. As well as Simon Veness's book, I'd recommend the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World (Bob Sehlinger). It's long, and a bit obsessive on the tour plans, but there's lots of information about the scare factor of the various rides and the strategies other parents have used.

once again i would like to thank you guys for all the info you have given me, i am sorry i haven't got back sooner but work and looking after my disabled mum i dont get that much time lately. but thanx a million.

all the best for 2004
Pam..
happy new year EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:jumping1:

hi edie

thanx for the advice,we do live near a disney store, anyway she has now decided she wants to go again on the condition that we dont do the scary rides.think it helps that her twin sister very excited about going but she wants to go on eveything, think a bit of her excitement must have rubbed off for now.

we have been having little chats with her about what we are going to do when we get there,we had a look around the disney store and got a couple of things for the trip,so all well at the moment.

Hi, just wanted to reiterate what someone said about Best Buy in Orlando. It's very good, also you could try Circuit City which is near to the Florida Mall. These 2 stores were recommended by our tour rep when we were after a camcorder. We got one and with a bag and a pack of 3 tapes it worked out at £180 when the camcorder alone back in the UK was over £300 so it's well worth a look for your digital camera. The sales people at Circuit City really went out of their way to help us. Good luck with what you decide to do.
