Hello from the 12/28 Magic

Thx for the live updates especially about the weather. Glad to hear it's going well. Have a blast!! :cool1:

Sorry no posts sooner but we have been so busy!

Day in Grand Cayman

Yesterday was our Day in Grand Cayman. The weather started a little overcast so we were a little worried - Last year we missed this stop because the water was too rough. But it cleared up and yes we got to tender in. We had pre-scheduled the 3 hour string ray city and snorkeling with Capatin Marvins. When we got to the shop they told us the water was very rough and that they were not recommending the trip for young children. In fact Disney had totally canceled its excursions to Stringray City. DS is nine but he is a strong swimmer and my DH is a certified diver so we decided to give it a go. Let me start by saying that Captain Marvin's is definately the way to go. They are great to work with. MY DH could not believe they were offering to cancel because they did not want us to have a bad experience. They were correct that water was really rough. Sting Ray City was fun but we spent a lot of time just trying to stay up right. We then went ot snorkel and it was so rough and wavy that I was having a hard time keeping track of my DD. This didn't bother her but I was not to happy with it. They canceled stop three because they felt it was no longer safe. When we got back to the City we did a little shopping and than they kids wanted to go back to the ship to get ready for New Years Eve.

I must admit that I do not like to tender in. It really limits your options. It is so nice to just walk back onto the ship eat lunch and then head back out to shop or whatever.

NEW YEARS EVE was just what you would expect MAGICAL! Great dinner with a special menu that you got to take with you. Parties all over the ship. We staked out a spot on the stairs in the Front entry way which turned out great. There was a DJ and tons of confetti and paper. We were right where the action was which was great but in a place where we could sit and enjoy and not get pushed. At New Years they gave out chamgane in special Disnet magic cups. When we got back top the room a great surprise - a special Disney New Years Eve lithgraph. It is great I cannot wait to frame it.

For the pin traders among you - my kids love to pin trade - they had two special pins. A New Years Eve Pin and New Years Day Pin. We had to wait in line both nights.

Cozumel Day

Today the weather was perfect. We did the Disney beach day excursion. It was really perfect for us. We went to Playa del Sol for 5 hours. It included lunch, drinks, chairs, umbrellas and water floats. The kids had a blast swimming out to the water trampoline and the blow up rock wall. I just held down the fort at the chairs and finished a good book. We got back to the ship in time to see the 5:30 showing of the Incrediables.

Dinner tionight was Palos - need I say more. We had Marco as our server. We have had him before and he is delightful. The kids went to our regular dinner themselves. It sounds like our servers took really good care of them. After dinner we all met on deck for the pirates party. We were way to full to even look at the desert buffet but the party was fun and the fireworks are a great addition since our last cruise.

We are now moving underway and as best I can tell moving fast! I am having a hard time typing - I am not a great typists as it is and teh key baord is rocking under my fingers. Looking forward to a great day at sea!

Sounds awesome! I'm enjoying reading your posts, since our cruise is such a long time away. What does the lithograph look like? My kids like to pin trade too, and DH is envious of your new pins!

great to read everyone is having fun.. on our next cruise it is just going to be DH and me and we are wondering if they will seat us with other couples we would prefer to dine with other cruisers as to dinning by ourselves as this will be a 7 night cruise it will be nice to meet and make new friends ty...

Is this the Marco you saw in Palo?

That would be wonderful if it was. He was just back from a 6 month vacation on the 12/4/04 cruise & was our assistant server in the dining room. He was going to have to work his way back up to Palo.

Hi from another 12/28 cruiser - I've been out of commission the whole trip with the flu which DD has now gotten as well (ugh!) but received FABULOUS news this afternoon when DH won bingo! I posted a separate thread on this

Hi Liz!

He took an extended leave and knew when he left that it would lose him his place in Palo. They had to replace him. It's a matter of seniority. He had to start back on the bottom & work his way up. We didn't know that he had worked in Palo until Sasha asked who our servers were & we told him at dinner in Palo. That explained why he was so good to us. He did tell us that he had missed the kids when he worked in Palo so it was a nice change.
