Hello everyone, myself and dh are looking at hopping over the pond around July 26th to August 6th. If we don't come to see you all, we are going to Cancun to the Mayan Riviera.

A few questions for you. Do you know of any air carriers in GB that fly to/from Toronto and are cheap? I've tried www.canadianaffair.com and www.flyzoom.com. I'm looking for seat sales. Right now it's upwards of $1000. We can fly in to any London airport or to Birmingham. We thought about starting our travels in Loughborough, where my husband has cousins and then travelling down towards London. Can you give me links for cheap train or bus travel? We will not be renting a car. I can not drive on your side of the road and I wouldn't trust my husband to do it!!! :rotfl:

We'd be happy to meet up with any fellows Disers while we are there. I've been over many times, but this will be a first for my dh. We will be staying with friends in London, in the Kilburn/Willesden area as well as Hamptonwick, Middlesex.

Do you have any websites that would be helpful to us?

A great big hello to LeCras and to KayleeUK, kkymmy! :thumbsup2 We met LeCras last summer when they came to Canada for a mini Dismeet and KayleeUK, and kkymmy just sent me some lovely postcards and pin, in the exchange.

We would be more than happy to meet up or show any of you lovely people around the Toronto area if you ever come over! :moped:

Erm cheap trains from loughborough to london try www.midlandmainline.com or www.nationalrail.co.uk

I hope you have a lovely trip if you come...I love London but now I live in the North West of the country I don't get to go down much!

If I ever come over to Canada I would love to meet up....I have some friends who live in Fredericton and I'm supposed to be going over to see them in the next couple of years....so who knows!!!

Hi Marilynn and Welcome to the UK Community Board

Glad you liked the cards :thumbsup2

My DH went to Vancouver last year :) But I think he travelled with British Airway's?? I am not sure of any flight websites but hopefully somebody will be able to help with that.

Here is a couple of London websites http://www.londontown.com/ and http://www.visitlondon.com/

I will ask Carol to post to you she deals with rail travel in the UK and maybe able to help you :)

I live in the South West of England a 3 hour train journey to London :( But if you are ever down in this area I would love to meet you guys

Hello

We're heading to Toronto (and area) later this month and have booked our flights with Zoom. We've never used them before, and I have heard mixed reviews, so I'll reserve judgement on then until we can report from first hand experience! However, they are advertising late fares here from £99, but that applies to bookings made in the UK to travel to Canada and I guess it doesn't mean the same kind of price is available from Canada :(

Our flights with Zoom weren't in the £99 bracket (booked a year ago and travelling during UK school break) but were a lot cheaper than the main carriers and use our local airport (Cardiff), so suited our needs.

I hope you find something to fit your plans! :)

edited to add: I've just realised your dates in the UK almost correspond with our dates in Ontario! We fly out on 25th July, back on August 4th. I'll wave from the plane! ;)
