Just an FYI-no way would I start a small business in this economy. I know several small places that have closed in my area (and we actually have lower unemployment here than across the nation)-and others that are struggling.

And HighClass, he plans on being a SAHD and working on a plan, both admirable goals. It says nothing about actually starting the business or what the business may be. Why be so negative?

BTW, don't know if you have ever heard of this saying: "The best day to start a business is on the last day of a recession".

Personally, I believe we are at, or very bear the bottom, so it is time to get ready for the better times that are coming.

Glad to see you back for a visit. Also glad things are going well for you. Congrats on the 2 year anniversary away from the heart attack.

As for that business plan, maybe it would be a good time to finally start into reality that BBQ spice business you dreamed of earlier. Not as a storefront, but maybe as a business out of your home, while watching the twins. I saw a special on MSNBC where they showed a startup spice business (wasn't BBQ) that started out of a tiny Greewich Village apartment and went big as they finally got Whole Foods as a client. Maybe you can figure out a way to sell at a booth at street festivals & food fairs in your area and drum up small time, repeat business that way. Also, work your rubs & spices into other people's shops, instead of manning your own.
