Well I had my upper denture done yesterday and I have to admit that the stess of what was going to happen was worse than the procedure. I was very afraid of having to sit there feeling everything but acting brave.

The dentist as promised knocked me out from 10am yesterday morning till 7pm last night, when I woke up in bed. I was surprised that I didn't feel any pain at all. Just a feeling of something alien in my mouth. I'm not even taking any pain meds this morning.

I go back in 6 weeks for the lower procedure and to get my permanate upper. They take another impression after I'm all healed up so it will be a perfect fit.

I have what's called paradonal issues where the bone under my teeth has worn and all the teeth had become loose. So this was a forgone conclusion. I was told when I was in my 30s that I would have to have dentures by age 40 but I made it till 56 so I guess I was ahead of the game. It's funny you can work on making all your body parts stronger than your eyes and teeth.

I don't have a lot of energy this morning so I'll take the day off from exercising but I'll be back at it tomorrow.

I wanted to thank everyone for the pixie dust and kind thoughts. It helped tremendously. I love all of you and feel so blessed to have found this group.

I also want to say something about the team trash talking I was doing, not so much anymore. I tried to just pick on strong personalities that I knew would chew my butt and send me on my way. If I made anyone feel bad that was never my intention.

Again thank you for your support and kindness.

Dave

Dave:  Glad to have you back so soon. Glad everything went so well and glad you don't have to have so much worry before then next procedure.

Oh, toothy Panda, you can trash talk me all you want!! I like it! :lmao:

Glad the procedure went well!

Glad to have you back with us Dave.....I am glad the procedure was not as bad as thought. I hope the day goes by nicely for you, and good luck with walking tomorrow!

Beth

Dave - I feel for you with teh dental issue. :grouphug: Glad it went better than expected. Glad you know better than I that if they offer sedation, you take it. As for teh trash talk, feel free to pick on me if you need to get it out. I am a firm believer in not ripping on anyone you don't care about. :goodvibes I think my slugs took it fine too. ;) ;)

Exactly Carrie, I care very much for my WISH buds. How can we not feel a bond after what we have all been through togehter.

Vic, buddy I'm tickled to death to be feeling as well as I am.

Lisa, thank you and yes next time will be much easire.

Beth, I did some stretching and even thought about walking but Erica said something about causing me pain if I didn't listen to her and relax today. Must obey your nurse.

Ironz, thank you, I was looking foward to posting while I was on the pain med but once again my pretty princess nurse said to behave myself.

Let's see, they knocked you out for several hours and you feel no pain afterwards but are several dollars lighter. Sounds like you went to the IRS for tax help instead of getting dental work. :lmao:

Glad everything is going well right now.

Hey Dave, just adding my wishes for a speedy panda recovery. I feel your pain--somewhat literally. I just had two adjacent crowns replaced and it is taking forever for the teeth to settle back down and not bug me every time something cold goes over that direction. The little things in life we take for granted somteimes.

Just think though. There are some benefits to a temporary liquid diet--milkshakes, beer. Good carbo loading food! :rolleyes1

Maura

Dave: I'm so happy that the procedure wasn't as bad as you'd feared. And you're off the pain meds already--you have a strong constitution, you do! :thumbsup2 You take care of yourself and know that we'll be supporting you today, 6 weeks from now, and the entire time you're healing.

Don't think that lets you off the hook with the trash-talking though. I've come to expect my weekly dose--I'm addicted! :rotfl:

As for your liquid diet, I'm with Maura. MMM, milkshakes. I had my mouth wired shut for a broken jaw when I was a teen, and milkshakes were one of the few things I didn't get tired of. My other favorite "foods" were chicken noodle soup, without the chicken and the noodles of course, and tomato soup. I still can't stand potato soup, though.

Glad you survivied the procedure okay! Hope you're back up and running soon.

Hey there Dave!!! I'm so glad you are feeling better and everything went well! My brother got the good teeth in my family. sigh. I don't mind the trash talking either...It always makes me smile!

Feel better!!! :flower3:

Thank you guys.

I just had a nice cup of applesause and some coffee. The market we use just happened to have a sale on the Campbell soups that come in a sippy cup and you micro wave. We bought a bunch. I'm thinking lots of V8 Juice and some of those high protien low fat drinks that bodybuilders drink. Maybe I'll start sounding like Arnold.

WWDave at the Dentist, his own private Haight-Ashbury:

"Dude, just a few deep inhales, and your pain totally floats away!"

Plus, when I read the opening too quickly I saw "the Dentist promised to knock me up :scared1: ."

Glad to see it was knocked out, and great result that the anticipation was worse than the procedue.

Get better, feel better, and get back out there.

Craig

Glad it's done and over and you are up and about!!

Thank you Anne.

Oh me to. Since I'm doing good Erica called the foot Dr about her Bunion. Didn't Judy just have that done last year?

Dearest sore Panda,

I'm sorry you are having to go through all of this but glad to hear you are doing well.
By the way, while you are busy healing our team will pick up the pace for you. You just take it nice and easy for a while and let us do the work for you.

How's that for trash talk? :rotfl:

Hope you continue to do well. :flower3:

The anticipation is almost always worse than the procedure.
Gotta love those knock-you-out drugs! :lmao:
Glad you are doing well, my Panda.

Susie and Kristi, I feel so much better knowing you guys are covering for me. Hey wait a minute, your not on my miles team, you guys are the mischevious competition.:)

Dave - so glad you're doing well today and that it wasn't as bad as you feared. Listen to that nurse of yours when it comes to activity but certainly understand about wanting to get moving again (ask DH about length of time I used the crutches when I tore my ACL :rolleyes1

As for the Campbells sippy soups, they're not bad. Creamy tomato is my fave.

And I've also come to expect the trash talking....makes me smile. So bring it on....I may just have to rethink my Panda-rug decision. :rotfl:

Keep getting better! :flower3:
