Hi, I've been doing Weight Watchers for quite some time but am just now getting serious about it. I've lost 5 pounds total. That doesn't sound like much but like I said I am just now getting serious with point counting and exercise! I would like to hear from other Disney Lovers who are "weight watching". :goodvibes
:grouphug:

Hi! Congrats on the five pounds! I've lost 6.2 total. I've done nearly every diet available, and Weight Watchers is truly the best. I just need to be in the mindset to keep at it. I'm an emotional eater, so when things get bad, I tend to eat and eat and eat AND eat. But, Weight Watchers DOES work and right now, I'm loving it. I'm doing hte 100 day challenge, and I've gone 18 days without a major binge. That's amazing for me. It helps, when I'm thinking of eating a lot, to start researching the points. By the time I figure it out, the craving has passed.

WW online for me ---- i have done it unofficially and lost almost 25 lbs, this time around I needed something 'new' -- i'm a boredome eater i believe. I joined online Jan 3 and have lost 7 lbs so far -- 13 more to go!

How do you like the online Weight Watchers?

I'm on WW online-- I love it because there is no way I'd be able to make the meetings every week, and I like the online journal becuase I'd never remember to carry my paper journal with me :-)!

I agree that WW is truly the best diet-- and I think that is becuase it is really not a diet! Unlike the other programs where there are restrictions, and you have to eat a certain way, or at a certain time, WW allows you to work it into your life, no matter what you are doing! I think that's why it has the most successful people who maintain their new weight too- because they know how to eat to be healthy, rather only knowing how to eat to be on a particular diet that they don't plan on continuing after they lose the weight!

I totally agree. This is actually the 4th time I've done weight watchers. Every single time, it's worked -- I've just would stop following the program. This time, I'm going to stick with it.

I can't do the on-line one, though. The meetings keep me accountable and are a great source of support/inspiration.

I have done WW several times. The first time I did it for my wedding, it worked great. I lost all the weight I wanted in a healthy way. After my son was born I tried it again, but just couldn't stayed committed to the program. I believe WW is excellent, its just like anything-you have to stick with it. At work are about to do an on-site WW and I am really excited and plan to keep focused. Competition in the office always help too! This is the first week I have been back to my gym too in a long time. Things are going in the right direction.

I LOOOOOOOVED Weight Watchers. It really is about a lifestyle change. It's not just dieting, it's learning good eating habits. I lost 60 pounds on WW and have kept it off for over a year now. I don't count points anymore, since I"m just maintaining, but I am more conscious of what I eat and portions, etc. What I loved the most about WW was not having to give up my favorite foods. I just made small changes. I still pay my monthly online fee even though I only visit the site once a week at the most. It's my "safety net" and a reminder of the progress I've made. You'll love it! :thumbsup2

My doctor also says WW is the best one out there. He's an advocate of the flex points version, which I am doing.

I do find it so easy to "adapt" my favorite foods into WW. Plus for me, it's a huge matter of portion control. Before doing WW, I was eating DD's leftovers, snacking and having my own dinner, then snacking two or three times more. And I couldn't understand why my weight was ballooning.

So, what WW teaches about portion control is SOOO important, and I do find I'm never really hungry when I eat what I'm supposed to.

i really do like the online version, I stopped at a meeting to purchase measuring spoons and overheard the wait for a WI can be up to a 1/2 hour. then i was really glad i was an online member. for me -- i have an email buddy group from WISH and they are my daily accountability. I really count on my monthly exercise challenge and use that to keep me moving. so, for me, i find my accountability here. now, i will say I did terrible this weekend -- but tomorrow i'm looking forward to getting back in my journal and being faithful to get back in the mode of losing!

Another online user here. When I followed it faithfully back when I started (late '03) it really worked for me. Then I began slipping. I've kept the membership and log from time to time but then always slip.

As stated in another post here today is the day I start again. Clean slate and I'm ready to lose!

Hello!! I started WW online a week ago and had my first WI today: a loss of 7.5lbs!! I'm so excited! I love WW online so much better than the meetings; I can check in whenever I want and there's so many resources around the internet for support that I don't feel like I'm missing anything not going to meetings. Plus, I don't have to have the feeling that I'm "failing" at WW if I miss a meeting. I love it!! :goodvibes

Congrats on the weight loss! :cheer2: I think I lost about 7 lbs my first week, too! I think it's mostly water weight, but it's great motivation to get started! I agree about the online. You can stay "connected" as often as you want, just by logging on, rather than having to wait all week for a meeting.

hi all, I just found this thread, AFTER I posted mine about beginning UGH!
Hope you all don't mind but, I am going to paste it here so that I could get some advice. Please forgive me if you end up reading it on both threads:
here goes..............

Hi all, well, I have decided to give WW a try. Most of you know me by now but in case you don't, in a NUT shell........

I am 34 F from NY, 4 kids, work (so busy, fast paced lifestyle).
Joined WISH about 3 years ago, lost 50 pounds doing Low carb (my own version) and going to Curves. I have since gained back 30 but have got 2 1/2 marathons under my belt and have taken up running. I very recently quit smoking (3 weeks clean of nicotine).

My execise is: curves at least 4 times a week and the Treadmill 5 times a week (5 mph non stop for 35 minutes= 3miles then walk 1/4 mile).

My reason for trying WW is that I have gained so much in the past few weeks. Although, I haven't been strict w/ my LC diet, I have kicked up the exercise but, have still gained! I anticipated a weight gained when I gave up smoking which is why I began to exercise more, and it still didnt work.
Anyway, as much as I am used to LC, I dont think its for me anymore and I heard so many of you succeeded with WW.

I tried WW (for one day, lol) about a year ago and found that the whole points system was to much work for me. That may sound crazy to you WW vets cause your so used to it (as I am to LC), but, I think it's the little things about points, like measuring. But, I am desperate and will try anything at this point! My clothes dont fit!

Right now, I don't have the $ to actually join but, I do have the books (points) and the sliding calculator. So I can work with that.

Anyway, I have a few Q's.......

I love coffee w/ 1/2 &1/2! I have both reg. and fat free, I just used the calculator and notice that the ff one was NO points (thank goodness).
So really, can I drink my normal 5 cups a day if thats no points? BTW I use splenda, I assume that has no points either..

I just made a cheesecake w/ splenda yesterday via LC diet! lol.......
So, how does one figure out points for that? There is of course cream cheese as well as vanilla extract, lemon juice, eggs!
It's stuff like that (self made stuff) that frustrates me as to how to decide on points!

I don;t yet have the book that has the restaurant points, Is there a web site that lists them? or just WW?

Anyway, thanks I am sure Ill have tons more Q's. but, for now, any info is appreciated!

One last thing, if any of you have any advice in general about when you got started, how to, etc. Please do tell!
I need all the help I can get!!

also, my second thread.............

AHHHH! I'm back with more Q's already and no one even posted yet! lol!
Anyway, I just had my first WW breakfast not bad I think, 6 points!
Is that good for a BK?
While I eating, I was thinking how happy I was to see the my Wonder lite wheat bread (2 slices) was only 1 point! (long way from LC!) So does this mean I can have two more slices for lunch?

I mean are points, points no matter how you use them?
After a LC lifestyle I am going to have to try NOT eat a whole loaf of bread in a day! I am sure someone will say that I should try to get in all or most of my food groups rather then waste them all on bread but, just in case, I am having a busy day, is it safe to say this can be done?

Is the FLEX system still being used? My book is from last year, just want to make sure I have all the right info!

Also, (last thing I swear!, I am just real excited about this! )

Some one tell me what to buy in the store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
snacks! especially! I have no clue and dont want to have to bring my calorie calculator! That will take to long! all I know is LC, used to buying salami cheeses, etc.
Mostly 1 point type stuff! thanks again all.

Hi everyone,

I've been doing WW for several years now. 2 summer's ago I actually made lifetime and I had lost 48.4 pounds. By Christmas last year I had gained some back. Did the 1/2 marathon at Disney in January and another one in April 05. Managed to get within 5 pounds of my goal last summer. Went to Disney for 2 weeks, then 2 more smaller vacations and suddenly I found myself about 25 pounds above my goal. Right now I have about 20 pounds to loose to reach my goal weight again. I can and know I will do it by summer. I'm hoping not to make the same mistakes this year.

Weight Watchers is the best in my opinion. I love that I know how much to eat and when I'm done I stop. The flex plan provides flexability, it allows me to eat out and have the things I love once in a while. What I have to work on is getting back on track once I have a vacation or cheat weekend.

Hi everyone - I joined my WW at work group here -- I need the accountablity of a weigh in that someone else see.. I also am helping my DD (age 12 weight 160ish height 5.3) get started. And we bought a treadmill to use.. Hope to lose 10 lbs before our trip in April

Hey all,

I am on my first week of WW. My first weigh in is Sunday and I am a bit nervous. I have done really well keeping within my points range and I feel like I lost something for sure, but that first weigh in is the toughest. I did well with WW a few years ago, lost 30 pounds. Then DH got deployed overseas, both my grandparents died, and I ended up hospitalized for a week and after all that my diet went right out the window, I have since gained all the weight back plus 10 more pounds. I finally have had it and decided to get some control back. I went to Disney in December and could really feel the weight was a hindrance for me. So I firmly intend not to have it all for our next trip. I also want to get the weight off for my kids. I am 35 yrs old and have 5 kids ages range from 13-6. The little ones always want me to play with them and it started to get really tough, which I hate. I love the fact that there is a thread here on my favorite board that I can come to for encouragement or to give advice to others. Good Luck to everyone here with their goal!! :grouphug:

Hi, everyone! It is so nice to see everyone introducing themselves. I had tried WW many times over the years but didn't get serious about it until december 04. I was about to have heart surgery and worried about telling the anesthesiologist how much I weighed. So, I lost 7 pounds before the surgery and another 11.5 before I joined WISH on 1/17/05. Since then, I've followed WW conscientiously but kept eating normal foods and exercising. I have lost a total of 60 and want to lose another 35 or 40 in the next year. I haven't done it quickly, but I have done it in such a way that I know I can maintain this lifestyle forever.

I find that using e-tools and journaling on-line keeps me very accountable, and I follow the flex plan because I love all foods and love to eat out. The flexibility and common sense of WW Flex Plan are what my doctor says makes it the best WL program for me.

I find the meetings to be less helpful and committed to spending that hour in the gym instead of sitting in a meeting. After all, there is so much support here and I learn a lot about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, so it is hard to justify that hour every week.

My husband and I are doing this and have bought the books off of ebay. I was wondering though if anyone knew where I could get a points calculator for cheap?
TIA

Good luck everyone!!

I have done WW in the past and had always given up....no motivation. I love the plan don't get me wrong, I just couldn't keep going. So about 3 weeks ago I rejoined WW and talked my mom into going as well. I think with a buddy you can call it helps so much. My mom and I call each other all the time to see how many points we have had. She is new to WW and was on Atkins in the past and lost alot of weight but gained it back when she quit doing it. That is where WW differs. You can do WW for a life time and Atkins you can't. I have been going for 3 weeks and have lost 8.8 lbs. My second week really didn't count because my daughter was having surgery and I was stressed out so I didn't weigh and couldn't because my DD was coming home from hospital. My motivation this time is the fact that we are going to WDW on 6/18 and I refuse to go and be embarassed to even wear a swimming suit. I want to be able to lose 37 lbs. if possible by then. It can be done and I intend on doing it!! Hope you can do the same.
