Hello all, new owner planning ??

I am a new DVC owner at Animal Kingdom and received the matching developer points for use at SSR. I am planning a trip in September but would also like to travel in Feb 09 during President's week. How difficult do you think it would be to get a studio during this time? Also, at what point do I call MS to reserve?

Are you planning on using developer's points or your regular points for the Feb '09 trip?

If I counted right, then you are in the 7 month window or about to enter the 7 month window for that trip. If you are in the 7 month window, then call now. If you are about to enter the 7 month window and are using the developer's points, then call MS as soon as you enter the 7 month window. If you are using your regular points and if they can be used in February, then I would all now.

When I called MS yesterday to reserve my Sept stay I was told that since I was a brand new member it would take 10-15 days to confirm the reservation. I guess once I have Sept's confirmation I will work on Feb's. But do you know if this is a busy time for DVC? President's Week?

Cool, since you are using developer's points, you will need to wait for the 7 month window. Yes, President's Day week is a busy time. So I would call MS at the 7 month window. (Sorry I am a bit brain dead and can't remember the actual date of President's Day so I am not sure if the 7 month window has started yet.) The 10-15 days to confirm the reservation is because you are using developer's points. I had the same thing occur last year when I used developer's points.

I called MS today to reserve presidents week. Since I am a teacher they only vacation I ever have is HIGH TIME for DVC. And of course, to no surprise I was waitlisted for the week. They did have some days available, but not the whole week. WIth this new booking situation I had to waitlist for the entire week I couldnt waitlist for just the days I needed, but I think that KINDA SUCKS becasue now I realize that I could have had half of the week reserved and then waitlisted for the other 2 days but no way. So since it is 7 months out I hope that my waitlist will come through. But back to you GOOD LUCK> and nervous for myself

Yes they are. I believe that their hours are 9-5:30 Eastern, 7 days a week.

What resort (and room type) are you trying to book? It seems hard to believe that SSR is already totally sold out for President's week.

I will be looking for Studio accomodations from Sun-Thur during Pres Week. i am going to call in a few mins.
