Hello again

I've missed you all lately. Things are always busy for us in the fall with the kids activities. We have one in 2 different choirs and student council, one on two bands and piano lessons and one in a bowling league. I always feel like a taxi this time of year

We've also been doing a lot of local fall camping. Next weekend is our last one, provided the weather holds out. It's not looking so good at the moment. I'm fine with cold....as long as it is DRY

We are cancelling our December trip to FW. It breaks my heart a bit, but money is just too tight right now. We talked to the kids and we'd rather wait until we can do that trip the way we want to.....dining plan, 10 day park hoppers, plenty of money for extras. It would be hard to be at the fort and NOT be able to go to the parks/restaurants that we'd want to. We only get there every 2-3 years....so we want to *do it up* when we go, know what I mean ??

We are going to try to go down to Panama City Beach instead over Christmas. We would just be lounging at the pool and visiting with family members. Very laid back and relaxing. That trip will cost about 1/5 of what our WDW trip would be. We just really want to go away for the holidays since everyone around here is so depressed about the economy right now. Just about everyone I know here in Michigan is going to have a tough Christmas. So my plan is to *run away* and hide in Florida and bring in the New Year somewhere else.

Does anyone know when you cancel a reservation if they can apply the deposit to a new one ?? I am thinking maybe we can get down there for Thanksgiving '09.

Hey Shannone, sorry to hear you have to cancel..but there are better times ahead. Everyone seems to be hurting in one way or another right now.
Panama City sounds fun though. Is it warm enough for the beach at that time of year?...

I don't think we will be hanging out at the beach, lol. BUT at Emerald Coast RV Resort they cool the pool about 90 degrees all year !! We found it almost TOO warm last spring...but it will probably feel good in the winter. I don't think there will be many other kids there. The CG caters more towards the senior crowd and most of the snowbirds head down AFTER the holidays. There are some local things for the kids to do that will be open....Ripley's Believe it or Not, a local aquarium, mini golf. It won't be an exciting vacation like FW would be...but it will still be better than being home. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out.

Bad news,,,don't matter where you go, you can't get away from it, the economy is depressing and sucks, no matter where you go.

Sorry you aren't going to make it to the Fort but there's always next year. Regarding your deposit - why not just change the dates on your current reservation from Xmas to Thanksgiving. Just keep the same reservation (with deposit) and modify the dates???

I didn't realize I could change the dates and keep the same reservation. That would make things easier. And I wouldn't feel like we were really giving up the trip...more like postponing it, lol

We haven't figured out which would work better for us....Thanksgiving '09 or Spring Break '10. I like the idea of November because it is sooner...but we'd be able to spend a couple more nights over Easter. Hmmmm...

Hi Shannone ~ sorry to hear about the trip ~ but a "postponing" is so much better than a "cancelling"! My fam and I try to do the same thing as far as being able to "do it up right" while we're there, so we only go every other year or so.
