It's been a looong time since I last posted, but it has been non-stop since we moved to San Francisco in January and whenever I did have some spare time the DIS wouldn't work on my laptop or would load up and then freeze after about 5 minutes :confused3

At the moment I am back home in Bath feeling sorry for myself because DH and the kids are still in the US and I am home alone. My best friend is in hospital, so I have come over to spend some time with her and keep her company. It's strange being home by myself, really not used it! I've got some friends coming over later to keep me company, though. :goodvibes

Anyway, I just thought I would say "hello" again to any of those will still remember me, before I started posting again! Would seem a bit weird to suddenly start dipping into posting again after such a long time away from the boards.

It's good to be back! :)

Hi Frances, lovely to 'see' you :) Funnily enough, I was asking the other day if anyone had heard from you. How is San Francisco - tell us all?

Hi Frances! Nice to see you posting... :)

Just wanted to say, it was on your recommendation that I booked concierge at the Polynesian last summer. We (party of 8) unanimously loved it and had an absolutely wonderful vacation so thank you for your advice! :thumbsup2

Hey Frances, it's great to hear from you. I hope your friend is feeling better soon

OMG! Frances! How lovely to see you posting. Do tell all about SF. Have fun with your friends this evening. :goodvibes

It certainly came as a bit of a shock. I have never felt so strange as I did the first few nights. It suddenly dawned on me just how ridiculously drastic this move was, a new house halfway around the world in an area we had only ever visited a couple of times previously. To be honest we were extremely homesick for the first month or so, but once we settled down and got to make new friends it improved tremendously. The children are loving their new school, it is very relaxed and chilled out compared to their old school, they have lots of friends and they are extremely happy. I was a little worried at first, as they didn't seem to challenged by the work, but I went in and spoke with the teacher and I am much happier now.

Last month they said they don't want to come home, and as silly as this may sound, it almost made me cry as I realised that I made the right decision when we made this move. I was so worried about disrupting not only their education but also their social lives and stability.

DH is working long hours, he often doesn't get home until 8pm and has to leave at 8am. That is definitely the negative of living over here, although he can work from home occasionaly which is a nice change. DH has an L1 Visa which enabled our move over here as it mean we could get L2 visas, but it also meant a bit of extra stress because I couldn't work until I got authorized and been here for 90 days. I still haven't got round to it yet, I am quite enjoying being a lady of leisure!

I am so glad you had a great time!! :goodvibes We were meant to be heading back to the Polynesian this summer, but DH couldn't get the holiday time we would have needed to make a trip to Orlando worthwhile. As a compromoise, we are heading down to San Diego and Los Angeles for a week instead next month. Anyway, I am so glad you liked it at the Hawaii longhouse. It really is the most wonderful place on earth!

Frances - Great to here from you.
