I was googling this, and I didn't see any official sites with this information. I did see some really old posts on this board, but they are 7-8 years old.

Are there any rides that are challenging for larger guests? Are most of them accommodating?

Disney is pretty size friendly.

For the rides with seatbelts, a great trick is to pull the belt all the way out BEFORE you sit and keep a grip on the belt so it stays out. Then sit, then pull the belt around you and lock it in. For some reason this is MUCH less awkward than sitting the pulling he belt out and around.

Belted rides I can quickly think of...Indiana Jones, soarin’, guardians of the galaxy, Star Tours...

The one ride my husband had problems with (that still exists) is goodys sky school. That restraint just did NOT work for his combo of belly and solid muscle tree trunk legs. He tried it once, had a really rotten experience with fellow guests (apparently we were there on Be A Major Jerk day) and can’t even look at the ride as we walk by.

Most are accommodating, though I've seen some people say that they are uncomfortable on Goofy's Sky School and Silly Symphony Swings due to size. I don't recall anyone saying they actually couldn't ride, just that it's uncomfortable.

Personally, I think height is generally less of an issue at DLR. The only attraction that comes to mind is the Matterhorn. One of my taller friends (>6 ft) said the cars did not have enough leg room, so it was a pretty uncomfortable ride. He didn't really mention any other attraction, just Matterhorn.

For weight, DLR seems pretty accommodating, but there have been some reports from some Dis'ers about have trouble with some attractions. Mostly it seems to be the ones with safety belts/harnesses or fixed seat sizes. The ones that come to mind are Mr. Toad (especially on the side with the steering wheel), Nemo Subs (the fixed seats seemed kind of narrow - and uncomfortable), Silly Symphony Swings, Jumpin' Jellyfish, and Goofy's Sky School. Also Astro Obitor, but that's because you have to get up from a flat surface.

(I haven't been over to Tom Sawyers Island since it re-opened, but previously, there were parts of the cave system that were pretty narrow. I remember there was this one area - an offshoot of the main pathway - that only the kids could fit into. You didn't have go into it to get through the cave system, but if you're following small(ish) kids, it's something to keep in mind.)

This techniques works very well.
Only for me, I will click it in the bracket before I sit down.
Once I sit, it's hard to find the bracket.

Goofy's Sky School and height...
I have a grandson about 6'3". If he loads the ride first, there is a place on the tracks where you begin the climb, that he's almost hit his head on once. Now if he rides he load second, to be on the right side of the car.
Not sure if this spot will be there after the refurbishment is complete.

For the larger and/or tall skinny members of my family, we haven't had an issue at DLR.

However, Knott's Berry Farm was a real problem for the larger ones in the family. Tall not a problem, only large body....
I was also shocked how rude the ride worker's at Knott's were about it too.

I'm sorry your husband had that experience -- how awful! People can definitely be cruel jerks.

Thank you. It was awful. And he was waiting to see if he had a pituitary tumor; it was a trip after blood work and mri, and the tumor (which he did and does have) creates prolactin (the hormone that makes milk), and he was a total mess.

He does, however, fit in and LOVE Primeval Whirl at Wdw, which is a way better ride imo, so that works.

I try to get the belt locked in before I sit as well. I find I panic less. Knotts was so bad when we went I was surprised actually the amount of rides that are not built for larger people. Made for a not so great experience when everyone can’t ride.
