As of right now, my 4 year old son is 44" tall (with tennis shoes). We are planning on going next year, but I noticed that some rides are 48" tall. Is that just to ride the ride by yourself, or to ride at all? Would my son be able to ride with my hubby and me, on a ride that is 48"?

(And yes, I know my son is amazingly tall for his age.) When we were on our last vacation when he was 2 1/2, I was changing his diaper (we were waiting to get home to start potty training), and these two ladies were questioning me on why he was still in diapers. I said because he is 2 1/2 years old. They thought he was 4!!! :rotfl2:

They have to be 48 inches to ride period. If you and DH want to ride it you can always do the child swap option ( this coming from someone whos dd was BARELY 48 in in shoes in dec)

Are they super super picky about it? Or does it depend on who is manning the ride? Like if he is 47 3/4" would they let him do it?

They will measure him before they will let him get into the line. And they may also measure right before getting on the ride. If he doesn't measure up, you'll need to wait until your next trip.

My DS was about 1/4" short of the requirement for Big Thunder Mountain in 2007, and he was not allowed to ride. He insisted on asking again a couple of days later on Soarin' (same requirement, we told him he wasn't tall enough) and he wasn'ta llowed on that either.

In my experience they are super picky.

My youngest was just barely 40" last trip. He rode most of the 40" attractions, but did not measure up to some of the sticks. One day he rode Soarin, the next day the CM thought he was too short. The CM at the entrance to Test Track said he was tall enough, but when we got to the boarding area the CM couldn't decide if he was tall enough or not. Another CM came over and the two of them spent several minutes pushing his feet up against the the stick, tilting his head up and down, and trying to see if they could slip anything between his head and the stick before deciding that he was too short. :guilty:

FWIW, the overwhelming majority of rides have height requirements of 44" or below. The only ones that are higher are Rock 'N' Roller Coaster (48"), the Sum of All Thrills at Epcot, and The Indy Speedway is 54" to drive alone but he can drive one of you. And yes, of course they are picky. They're not going to let someone who does not fit the restraints on a loop roller coaster or can't reach the brake drive a car. LOL Have a great trip!

They should be. Otherwise, it shows a lack of consistency in policy, which is not a good thing.

And they can be fired if they don't follow the policy. Especially if someone gets hurt because they didn't meet the height requirements.

Im sorry but if you have to think about it for mins, cause you can put a "hair" betwwen him/she and the stick,,,,,let the kid ride!!!!

Bradyn was tall enough to ride RNR with me but not my DH. With me they even tried to put the card between her head and the bar and she passed.

Consider this also... just because he's tall enough doesn't mean he's ready for it. Even though my 3 1/2 yr old was tall enough for TOT he wasn't ready enough for it. Taking him on that ride was probably in my top 5 worse parenting decisions. Also bad, but not nearly as much, was Dinosaur.

Seriously, IMO, TOT should have an age restriction also... or at least an option to child swap even if the child is big enough and younger than 5...or 32:lmao:
