Height Requirement

Hello, I hope this doesn't sound silly, but if my son is exactly 40 inches tall will they let him ride Splash Mountain? I thought I heard someone say that the sticks they use to measure are actually a touch more than 40 inches (to account for high heels, big hair, or any "height enhancement tricks").
We are hoping for a growth spurt, but only two weeks to go.

it really seems to be hit or miss. Many here have reported that their child would ride a ride 2 or 3 times then the next tiem be turned away when a new CM in on duty.
The sticks do not seem to be the same height and some CM's will hold the stick uphill from the child.

This might be a figment of my imagination...but I'm sure I remember a post asking a similiar question and somebody said you can get it checked at the guest services of a park  Then you get a wristband or something that you just show to the CM's at each ride...saves the hassle and disappointment for your children.

I'm not 100% on this tho but I don't think I just dreamed it up. Maybe someone else can give you a clearer picture! Hope you have a magical time whatever happens :D

DL now has the wrist band system. WDW last I knew does not. I think they did a small test of it in WDW according to 1 post here on the DIS, but everyone who has been there lately has reported that there are no height wristbands at WDW.

Thank-you for the replies!! We have not told him if he will or will not be able to ride, don't want to get his hopes up....but it would be disappointing for us (just because we would love to see his expression) if he wouldn't be able to ride, especially since he is 40 inches tall in his bare feet.

Thanks again, looking forward to a magical trip either way!!

If he is 40 barefoot he "should" be ok! The last time we rode I noticed they had built a new measuring platform at splash mountain. It looks as if they addressed the problem of the unlevel ground with this new platform. If your not sure just have the CM measure before you get in line or grab your fastpass.

Enjoy

My DS was just over 40" on our recent trip - they measured him each time and there were no issues. He thought it was pretty funny to get measured and at one point he said to one of the CMs that "I'm a big boy!!!".

I was a little nervous each time he was measured and like the prior post about checking first before getting fastpasses.

There were no wristbands for height but that would be a good idea if there were.

Thanks

Thanks for the fastpass reminder!!!! Knowing me I probably would have grabbed one first and then checked......that would've been a bad move.

I also appreciate the "guarded optimism" on our chances....I really think we'll be OK.

Thanks again!

As a side note, I also love that idea of a wristband.

Last November my daughter was 39 1/2 inches tall in her stocking feet the day before we left for WDW. She was not even checked for most attractions with height restrictions, and the ones where she was, she measured 40 1/2 inches tall with her sneakers on. Splash Mountain was her favorite, and we rode it 3 times.
