So, I know how to look up the height req's for each ride, but I was wondering how strict they are about them.
I am not talking about letting 35" kid go on a ride that requires 50", but my DD is 39.5" and I am wondering if they would allow her to go on 40" rides.
I may need to start streching her to get that 1/2 on her :lmao:
Oh, she is a ride freak so more rides to take her on the better.

From my experience, they are very strict. Just a hair under the line and they wont get to ride. When I was a kid, and Indy had just opened, my little sister was just a tad too small. My dad was determined to get her on Indy. So the next day, we waited in line (a very long one I must add), and as we approaced the CM the checks the height, my dad would put an extra sock under her heel. Needless to say, she rode Indy that day!!

Ouch, half inch. Truly right on the edge.

If they think that she is borderline height-wise when she passes through the line, they will ask her to stand under / next to / in front of the measure that they have set up. If she lines up, she's good to ride.

So, with a half inch, it could be very close depending on the attraction. Practice standing tall. :goodvibes

They are pretty strict for safety reasons. If something were to happen (knock on wood) and it were discovered a guest was under-height, sad to say that is the very first place a lawyer would start. That's the world we live in today, forcing CMs to be very strict.

Actually, I've seen CM's slide a piece of paper between a child's head and the measuring stick. If the paper goes in the child doesn't ride.
Good luck!!

thank you all.
We have a few months. Lots of cheerios:lmao:
And maybe we will put on some big shoes and a hat:rotfl:
I wouldn't push the limits. For example, I wouldn't try to push it for California Screaming if she was close to the limit, but it would be nice if she could go on Soaring over CA and Splash Mountain. She would love those two. Oh, and I know she would love, love, love Tower of Terror :scared1:
I told you she was a ride freak.

That happened with my son. At the SECOND measuring stick, right before you board Star Tours, after being OKd by the first CM. He was just slouching a little bit, he really was tall enough, but hubby was too stunned (he's not on the boards to know it could happen, and I wasn't on with them for some reason) to encourage E to stand tall.

And a little bit of a girl went prancing by wearing high heel cowboy boots, shorter than E even with the boots, but the CM was so involved in putting a slip of paper above E's head he didn't notice her.

:confused3 What did i miss?

On my 3rd beer things are getting woozy..

I am reading stuff thats not there... I though he was asking about the height requirements for each ride...

my experience has also been that they are strict. they even stopped my oldest son from riding grizzly river rapids once after they'd already let him ride before, even though he was tall enough, grrrr!!! it really made me mad.

this year, my youngest son is like your dd, he is currently at 39.5. i notice that if i measure him with his crocs on, he's tall enough. so, he's wearing crocs to disneyland, lol. we have about 6 weeks to go, so i'm hoping he grows a bit more.

good luck!

Just measured my son 39.5" too! I really wanted to take him on soarin' over California  but the req is 40" hmm maybe he will get the 1/2" before we go!! :confused3 Or I will just put him in his Nike Shox instead of Mickey crocs :rolleyes1

LOL. We have till November and I will have to look for new shoes :cool1: that don't look obviously high:laughing:

Those of you that go before us, post back and let me know how it went and what you did:thumbsup2

Yes, they can be strict. I think it really depends on the CM you get though. We expected ds to not be able to ride in the front on Splash this year, since they had changed that height requirement. Here I am watching for them, and suddenly I see ds sitting in front! Don't know if they changed the rule back, or they let ds slide. But I know he was happy, he loves the front!

This is the ride I am most looking forward to with our youngest son too! We've been going to Disneyland for years (our oldest is 16), but we have never all been on Soarin' together! or grizzly river run, or splash mountain, or space mountain, or star tours! It will be so awesome to finally get to go on some of these rides with my dh!

Remember, Grizzly is 42".

We're currently "eating all our vegetables to grow big for Grizzly", after two crying jags of DS's b/c he was about 41.5" in his shoes.

I was wondering? why not for children that are a tad bit under the height requirements, just wear shoes that have little heels on them? why not? he he!I am 5 8 but I have shoes that make me 6 feet tall, (just please don't tip me over! he he! ;) ) but seriously though, I like my idea, and if the CM's are worried about the child not being heavy enough for the ride, just do what is done for jockeys, weights are placed into the saddle, so they will be the right weight for the race. so it can work for the child too, I would not use weights though, but rather, (because who wants to carry them around all day long) use light weight, fluffy kind of material, so that way, it will look as though the child is chunkier from what they actually are. :) he he! no but really seriously. Anyway, just an idea......

Ya, we won't be able to take her on that ride :sad1: No way she can grow 2.5 inches in 2 months.
I could never figure out why that ride requires 42"

They have height requirements for safety reasons and they are very strict. I don't think people should try to cheat and make their kids taller. Is it THAT important that your kids get on rides? I mean....is their safety somehow less important?

Just some food for thought.

1/2" is not going to make a difference in safety, it would be kinda weird if the height req was 39 1/4" I think 40" is a nice rounded off number for the req... :confused3 And besides they measure with shoes on anyway, if they really were serious about the actual 40" they would have everybody take off their shoes, right?

And furthermore when do kids ever stand up straight for you to measure them :yay:

I think I speak for the rest of the parents when I say of course we would never jeopardize our children's safety. But it sure is exciting when your child gets close to a height req for a ride they have never been able to ride in years past. And if the CM says no then they say no...
