Hey all! Sorry I been away for awhile, but been really busy and have dying :cat: , so she's been getting a LOT of my attention lately. Anyway, height thing again :rolleyes2 ...here's my story: Last Saturday we were at Dorney Park (DH company picnic). DS just, (and I literally mean "just") made the 54" height requirement for the 2 big coasters there. He was SO close, the attendant at the one coaster suggested we go to Guest Services and have him "officially" measured, which we did, and they gave him a wristband stating he was 54" to be able to ride said coasters. Now, we leave in 3 weeks for UO, and I am pretty sure they do NOT do this there, do they?? He is JUST 54" and I know we are probably going to have a problem.....please advise if there is a place to get an "official" measurement, or are we just going to have problems?? *sigh* :sad2: Thanks! :wave2:

There is no official measurement at Guest Services. Work with him on how to stand up straight and tall with his feet together. Some kids stand with their legs apart and it makes them measure shorter or they duck their head down . Lift the head and look straight ahead. Ride the ones with higher height requirements early in the morning. We all "shrink" a little during the day. Walking and standing all day compresses the spine a fraction of an inch.

First, sorry about your kitty. I have a 16 year old kitty who has medical problems. I actually took her to the Hard Rock when we went down last week, so I could keep an eye on her. Boy, the looks I got. She did really great though.

Here was our experience last week. Now, 4 yo DS just barely hits the 42 inch mark and DD barely hits 44 inches. I mean just barely, so I was worried too when we went. I was sure DS could not ride the 42 inch restricted rides and DD would not be able to ride Rip Saw Falls (she drove me nuts wanting to ride this). I was trying to prepare them for not being tall enough to ride. But happily, there were no issues.:thumbsup2 They were absolutely measured to death on height restricted rides from the front to the end and in between in some cases just about every time, and every time they passed. I was really pleasantly surprised it worked out. Although, DS was a little miffed he could not ride Rip Saw Falls and told the TM at the entrance to the ride that he was gonna be in PreK and was a big boy now, :teeth: . The TM got a kick out of that.

I hope it works out for you and he gets to ride.

Thanks.....I didn't think Guest Services had anything like that, BUT, it doesn't hurt to ask. He has new (well, worn a couple of times) sneakers, so the sole is fairly thick. I have been working with him to teach him how to stand..... it's amazing that in the same shoes in February, the doctor's office measured him at 53 3/4".....they tried to tell me he didn't grow that 1/4" in 4 months? C'mon..... even the one girl at Dorney held the pole against the side of his sneaker...we told her you can't hold it there because it will force the angle of the pole outward, giving a false reading. Well, she argued with us, but we just bypassed her to the loading area (overcast day, no crowds that day). When we got there, the next one tried the same thing, until I made a *ahem* "fuss" over the fact that we literally just got off that coaster and I proceeded to whip out the picture of us on it that we just purchased. :rolleyes2 Well, after "talking to her supervisor", we were suddenly allowed to go...amazing! I'm sure DS will be okay....he knows there's a chance he won't make it on, but, we're gonna try! So, thanks for your inputs......and G&J's Mom...good luck w/ your :cat: . Ours definately has to go to kitty heaven, it's just a matter of figuring out the right time
