Just got back from my week at disney:sad1: Just want to warn everbody about my horrible experience at CP. This was our fourth trip that we decide to do CP since my son likes it so much. Well this meal went great as well. However about 2 hours after our meal I was puking, Then as I was coming out of the bathroom to tell my wofe my son throws up on himself. Then my mother starts, then finally my wife:scared1::sick: Just thankfully that my daughter who turn one on this trip was sparedas was my father. The four off us spent the night puking and on the toilet and the entire next day in bed. By far my worst experience in disney.:scared1: My father went to the front desk and they told him it was just a stomach virus:rolleyes: Don't think 4 of us would of gotten sick within 1/2 hour of each other with a virus. But he is not one to agrue. Got my next trip booked already for easter but think I'll be eating elsewhere

Eeek, that's terrible. :scared1: So sorry you all got so sick. Food poisoning is unfortunately somewhat common. Everyone would not come down with a stomach virus that close together. I think the only way to confirm it would have been to go to the ER but I would still write a letter informing them of what happened. If you all got sick it's quite possible so did others and if they get multiple complaints for the evening they will know it's for real.

oh, so sorry that happened to you. I would guess it was definitely a restaurant meal for so many of you to have "caught" it at the same time. Couple of years ago, DH went through about 48 hours of that while we were at Disney (his was from a fast-food meal offsite, though...he thought his chicken sandwich tasted odd, but ate it anyway. He got sick later...I ate something different & was fine.) Really puts a damper on the Disney fun when you're stuck in your room! Hope you still had plenty of fun there!

Bummer!
That happened to us last trip too. DH, DD, and DS were all sick by lunch time after eating at Akershus for breakfast.
It was our very first day of the trip too. Everyone was better in about 48 hours.

You have to prove food poisoning to Disney if you think you got it there. So go to the ER and have a stool sample taken while you are ill. Otherwise, you have no proof.

Then they verify it with other cases of documented food poisoning from the same place.

This is the prime example I hate buffets. Maybe the food was not spoiled but could have been passed along with touching spoons etc. on food bar.

Wow sorry that happened. My husband spent one vacation very ill at SSR and now he can't stay there as he associates it with being ill. Hope everyone is feeling better.

Yes, buffets are notorious for spreading germs via utensils. That's why when there is a norovirus outbreak on a cruise ship, the first thing they do is suspend self-service at the buffet.

Food poisoning debates come up every so often, and usually without anyone visiting the hospital so nobody knows for sure if it is food poisoning or where the virus originated.

For those interested in reading more about Norovirus, it's causes and how to prevent it, I reccomend that CDC Site http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/revb/gastro/norovirus-qa.htm.

For general questions on food borne illnesses, the CDC has a good page as well http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dbmd/diseaseinfo/foodborneinfections_g.htm

It's not fair to any restaurant to claim that food poising originated from a specific restaurant when nobody knows for sure that is what it was or even where it originated.

OP, I am sorry that your family got sick. It does sound like it could be norovirus, but from the CDC site the time from contact to illness is usually longer. It's more likely that it was from breakfast, or even meals in the two days preceding the illness.

Because nobody is sure where this originated, we're closing this thread now.
