We recently had this conversation:

DH: "I really need a Disney fix. Can we go? Now?"

ME: "No, we can't go now. You have school and I am about to drop this baby. Sorry, sweetie."

Little does he know I have a room reserved for December 27-January 8th!

We are staying for the first time (GASP!) off-site. We will have a full kitchen in our suite. Our hotel also serves "a full, hot American breakfast" each morning--I figure that will ultimately save some money.

I have $1200 saved so far.

We already have PAP's!
Our hotel is $1600
Travel est: $500
Food: ???

I am not sure about food. Breakfast is covered. I thought of packing sandwiches each day for lunch--much cheaper than counter service! and purchasing Quick and Casual vouchers for dinner--provided we are out for dinner or we could come back and cook in the room each night--or a combination of the two.

I picture the days before January 1st to be very crowded and short days for us and the days after January 1st to be much less crowded and us staying there much longer. (We've only gone in the spring--no experience with the "holiday" crowd.)

Okay, sorry for the pointless ramble--I am just so excited and I can't share it with anyone here! It would ruin their Christmas present. Now I just have to figure out how to wrap it and put it under the tree!

Wow you are so lucky!!!!! My husband gets excited when we get there and starts to relax but he doesnt get involved in planning or request to go when we are at home. Your such a lucky girl! Have a great trip::yes::

Sounds like a fun trip, but I would be mega nervous about taking a baby under the age of 6 months to WDW during RSV and Flu season. You might want to talk to your future pediatrician about exposing an infant that young to THAT many people.

I don't want to be a pixie dust killer, but sick babies are no fun either. Maggie

Would you believe I have thought about flu season with the baby. I already told DH and the kids that we all MUST get flu shots this year.

WE are going while DH is going to his convention. He is a little upset about me buying him park hoppers, disney quest tickets and the the halloween party at both disney and universal. Our first time at universal. But anyway He will be at his convention for only 3 days. So i have him down for mgm the second night we are there for only 3 hours and disney quest the following night. But he is upset about me spending money on all of this. How i look at it. When we get there he will end up being happy. :bounce: He would of been board at the resort by himself. I figured the first time we go to mgm since it will only be 3 hours and he will be a little tired. I will get him a fast pass for TOT, and he can go on the Rock N Roller Coster. and then we can see Fantasmic. So the next time we go we won't have to worry about not seeing Fantasmic. Sounds Good right.

Way off track here. LOL. My husband never wanted to be part of the planning. Now that it is all planned out and i have all the tickets. Here comes the complaining. LOL. Oh Well.:teeth:

Might I suggest investing in one of those car seat cover things with the window for baby--the more concealed your baby is the less that people will try to touch. Sounds like baby will be nearly 3 months old so you should be find.

Good for you on those flu shots. I've never gotten them and was soooo siiiick last year with the flu that even though I pass out from shots, I'm getting one this year. How old does a child have to be to get a flu shot?

Have an awesome trip! Are you a paid mom (working for $$) or non-paid mom (not earning money)--I ask b/c if you are non-paid I'm curious what you had to do to save for the trip.

I had to confess my coin jar today and my money pilfering ($5 here, $10 here) b/c I got a little carried away and we had to account for things. So I'm not very good at being sly. Kudo's for you for doing this for your family. :)

As far as lunches--we usually pack a lunch in some type of small cooler--we do yogurts PB & J and fruit for the kids and a lunchmeat sandwich for dad and me plus whatever snacks we've been snacking on that day that we brought along. Squeezy yogurts are good (if you have a small ice pack to keep them cool) as you do not need a spoon.

I am a paid mom. I have 2 part-time jobs. One I work only 1 or 2 days a month at a small retail store--to give the owners a day off together. The other is an after-school child care at a school. Its nice because I can take my 7 y/o with me there.

I have been saving my checks and any other money I can get my hands on. I have sold stuff on ebay, consignment stores and yard sales.

In the future you may want to consider staying at Ft. W cabins. They have a full kitchen, separate bedroom and nice deck.

You will still have all the special Disney feeling, the comforts of home and be on site.

I really, REALLY wanted to stay at Ft. Wilderness, but could not swing the price on this trip :(

I am curious...what is the AP price for you to stay at FW? If I remember correctly it is waaaaay cheap to stay there after January 1 or 2.

Also...will you be breastfeeding? If so...baby will probably in better shape than either you, DH or your seven year old!...and he won't need a shot...er, except of breast milk!

[I breastfed twins exclusively (no supplements) for 6 months...they passed 75% on the height and weight growth charts at 7 months. (birth weights were 4 lbs 12 oz and 5 lbs 4 oz. My doctor was amazed.]

I have a suggestion on how you could "wrap" this present. How many children do you have and what are their ages...excluding your new little boy?
