Just got back from a magical weekend at the World with the family-who are not vegetarian. Watch here for vegetarian food reviews of:
Everything Pop
Electric Umbrella-lunch
Boma-Dinner
Tusker House Breakfast
50's PTC-Dinner
Leaning Palms-Lunch

I need to hear this -
our daughter is vegetarian and our son vegan -
they have had the best food at Boma.
Boma is very good about making specials meals for them
and they make it so tasty and beautiful, too !

:cool1:

I had arrived late at night to Pop, so I grabbed a snack of tye-dye cheesecake and frozen coke. The tye-dye cheesecake was very good, but the rozen coke was pretty blah, maybe it was the Florida water.

...mmm..half eaten food.

For breakfast the nest day I had apples with carmel. I really liked Everything Pop, I thought it was better than Riverside Mill or Sassagoula Float Factory.

Oh my....

I don't know if I could eat that. I like my food to look like food, not a Picasso painting...lol.

Was your mouth all kinds of funky colors after eating? And did it taste like regular cheesecake or did it have a food coloring taste?

It tasted like cheesecake, but it had a red velvet (chocolate) cake crust.

I'm in. My DH is vegetarian so I'm always interested in other vegetarian's experience of dining at the world.

I'm so looking forward to more reviews! I'm always looking for more vegetarian options.

Well, I'm all about the cheesecake. You wouldn't have had to eat another thing to make me happy, Hedy! ;) Can't wait to read more, my friend. I hope you had a fabulous time.

Lunch was at the Electric Umbrella. I had the vegetarian wrap, which All Ears describes as
"hummus, zucchini, lettuce, cucumber, carrotts, roasted red peppers, balsamic vinaigrette" I didn't taste any hummus. It was good, not great. In 02 I had a veggie burger here that was meh, and this was better, but a little too cold. It was tasty, though, and came with fries. Also, you get your own drinks here, ensuring that your Coke has no ice, if that's your fancy. ;)

The carnivores has burgers and chicken, save for Jack who had the veggie wrap. The carnivores all enjoyed their food as well.

Excellent:thumbsup2

My husband is a vegan, so I'm always interested in vegetarian reviews.

Hi
I don't eat any meat and just tried this wrap for the first time two weeks ago. It was ok, so I used honey mustard dressing and it was so much better. I didn't get any fries with mine. Thanks for your reviews!!

Is Boma the Holy Gail for vegetarian dining at WDW, or is it just me? The carnivores like it as well, although the youngest carnivores stick to pasta and macncheese.

The check in desk for Boma has moved to sort of the left of the entrance to AKL. Minnie checked us in, and we hung out in the lodge.

We were seated, and gave our drink orders. I ordered the white wine flight, Sally had a mojito (not to be confused with a moe-gee-toe), Jack had a No-jito (no booze), Mordie and Ferdie had chocolate milk, Minnie had a Sprite, and Mickey ordered a Sam Adams. We were set free to get our food. Mordie and Ferdie helped themselves to French fries, macncheese, and penne pasta w/meatballs  Sally grabbed a seafood stew. Mickey had the butternut squash, he has shellfish issues, so a couple of soups were out of the question for him. I had butternut squash soup, bread with hummus, and the papaya, grapefruit, avocado salad.

. The waiter came out and announced they were out of Sam Adams, so Mickey had the red wine flight. Ferdie was spearing a French fry on his fork, followed by macncheese, which he recommends highly. Then it was entrée time: I had falafel, fufu (which I thought looked different this time), pap, couscous and jolof rice. All were excellent as usual.

. (I think I watch too much Alton Brown, because I’m now pondering if slaves brought Pap to the South, which became grits). Mickey was a fan of the potatoes with Afritude. I then headed onto dessert, I had tarts, cookies, and cobbler. I forgot to tell our waiter I was a vegetarian, so I did not have the chocolate mousse, as I was unsure if it contained gelatin. All were good. Mordie had the candied fruit, which Ferdie then wanted, but only the orange ones. All in all, Boma remains my favorite WDW restaurant.

:rotfl: We had a breakfast booked at Tusker House the day after Boma. We arived, and were seated. They were very good about bringing us juice, coffee, etc. For those of you who haven't read my other food reviews, in addition to not eating meat, I hate eggs, so breakfasts can be a pain. However, there were a lot of good options-a sweet potato casserole, mickey waffles, biscuits, and cornbread. If you're going to Tusker House, do not miss the corn bread-it's rustic loaf covered in corn. There were some frittatas, including a vegetarian one, but i did not have them. I didn;t actually ask, but it looked like most items I saw that were vegetarian has eggs or dairy, but if you're a vegan you could call them directly. The carnivores had a lot of food they liked too, the 12 year old carnivore liked the bacon-that was what he recalled while on the phone with my mother later that night. the character interaction was great too-I'd definately return. They also had the banana bread pudding that they have at lunch time-it would be very easy to make this your brunch (which we did). We saw Mickey, goofy, Donald and Daisy-I've heard reports of Pluto but he was not there.

Fellow veggie here traveling with carnivores as well!! Waiting for more!

We were at disney 8/25 to 9/1 and are vegetarian. We had a number of great meals, but will say to stay away from Tokyo Dining!!! There is no way to change any of the features of any meals, and we thought the quality was fair at best. Small portions. The waitress would leave anytime we had a question, and not return for 30 minutes. The manager would come out, but never the Chef. We were told 'he would say no' to a change of menu, but at ANY other restaurant all week the Chef would see us, often not even at our request.

The adults were having dinner out in DTD, so the little carnivores and I headed to DHS and PTC.
I walked over to the podium and checked in. “Heather Lastname-that’s two big kids and one little kid, right?” “Right.” I confirmed. We were told to wait in the living room. I told the boys that it was decorated like my grandmother’s house would have been when my mom and uncle were growing up.

They were underwhelmed. I was worried we wouldn’t hear our name, so we hung out near the podium. The boys pin traded with Uncle Gary, who was from Maine. I prompted the boys to tell Uncle Gary about their camping trip to Maine. We were called, I asked Uncle Gary for a kids’ menu for Mordie, as he can go either way in terms of food. We were seated, and Uncle Gary gave us Mom’s rules-No hats, no elbows on the table, and eat your veggies. We greeted out two very large groups of cousins. Once Uncle Gary told us that Mordie immediately removed his hat. (hops on soapbox) I know there’s been some hubbub on the boards about dress codes at restaurants. I ask, if a twelve year old has the wherewithal to take his hat off inside, why can’t adults? (hops off soapbox). I told the boys that they could get any drinks they wanted-Mordie asked if he could have a Pirate Punch, and Ferdie wanted chocolate milk. I ordered a PBJ shake. Our waiter, Uncle Patrick, took our drink orders. Uncle Patrick was very nice, but always seemed a little harried. I asked Uncle Patrick if Mom had any veggie burgers in the back (I had seen one in V_GAN’s reviews), he said he’d check. The boys perused the menus. Mordie asked if he could have a “grilled hot dog” (that’s classic Mordie-straight off the menu). He wanted a salad to start. Ferdie decided on macncheese, I offered him the shrimp appetizer, and I could literally see the thought cross his mind, but he said “No, macncheese*.” He said he wanted chicken soup as his starter. Uncle Patrick returned with the boys’ drinks, Mom was still making mine. He hadn’t checked on the veggie burger. He returned, and I was good to go with my burger. Ferdie ordered macncheese and a salad with honey mustard dressing, Mordie ordered a grilled hot dog and a salad with ranch dressing.

We watched TV, the boys colored on their menus, and chatted. (Pointless story-the last time I was at PTC, the New Mickey Mouse Club-the one with every celebrity from the late ‘90’s-was filming at MGM studios, and my kids menu had Mickey Mouse Club trivia on it). My milkshake finally arrived-it was more peanut buttery than jelly-y, but it was good (and there was a lot of it). The boys’ salads arrived-Mordie and Ferdie debated the merits of honey mustard dressing vs. ranch.

Mordie’s torso with salad. Mordie ate all of his salad, Ferdie ate about 50%-I thought they were a good size for a kids’ meal.

Uncle Patrick arrived with our food. Mordie began putting black pepper on his hot dog. He ate his hot dog and fries. My veggie burger was also very good. Ferdie ate maybe 50% of his macncheese and then sprinkled black pepper on his.

At this point, our cousins had left. I wasn’t sure if the boys were getting into it, but they didn’t appear to be having a bad time. Ferdie turned to me “I wonder if we’re getting any more cousins?” Uncle Gary walked by, I told him I hated to me a tattletale, but Ferdie hadn’t taken his hat off. Uncle Gary told him he’d better do so, so Mom didn’t have to come out of the kitchen. Ferdie removed his hat. Uncle Patrick came by to offer us dessert-he immediately offered the boys the make your own sundaes that come with kids meals, which I was impressed by. I said we wanted to peruse the menu. At some point Uncle Patrick referred to me to the boys as “Mom.” Neither party commented at the time (which is unusual for Mordie). The boys enjoyed the dessert viewmaster. They both opted for the smores, I got the brownie sundae. The boys liked the smores, I liked my sundae but it was a lot of food.

We finished up and headed out. I had a good time, as did the boys. Uncle Patrick was a little harried, and it looked like some of our cousins were having more fun with their aunts and uncles, but we had a good time. I'd return to PTC again (might not wait 25 years this time, though-LOL).

My final adventure with the carnivores took me to Leaning Palms at TL. I ordered a grilled cheese pretzel and fries off the kids menu. It was good!
