Dry cleaners near me says they will heavy starch jeans.

WHO wants them?

I'm old enough to remember the days of new stiff jeans and how most of us hated buying new jeans that was so stiff they would stand up by themselves. Washing new jeans before wearing did not take care of the stiffness...it usually took 3 to 5 yrs to break in jeans to the point they actually felt good.

So tell me who wants STIFF STARCHED JEANS?

Do people really still starch any of their clothing?

Give me soft and broken in any day over stiff and uncomfortable.

I had a roommate in college who sent her jeans out to be starched. I had never heard of such a thing and they looked very uncomfortable. We were a pair. lol I'd throw mine in my drawer and wear them wrinkled and she was as stiff as a board. She was from Oklahoma and said people did it there. :confused3

My first job as an adult was in Oklahoma - my boss wore dark, starched jeans to work every day. The solid dark color and the starch made them have the effect of dress pants.

She kept horses for barrel racing, so she'd just wear them around the barn once they started to fade.

Back when I hit the country bars (late 80s to mid 90s). all the guys wore starched jeans. Don't know if that's still the style or not.

I have never heard of starched jeans. I will have to ask DH, he is from Oklahoma.

This used to be huge in the hip hop community and among African-Americans. DH and all his friends/family would take their jeans to the dry cleaner to get them DOUBLE starched and a crease down the middle of the legs, much like the crease in dress pants. We were just talking about this the other day.

I grew up in Oklahoma and still live nearby in north Texas. I've never starched my jeans, and I don't know anyone who does. The only people I've ever seen crease and maybe starch non-trouser jeans are some African Americans, some Hispanics, and some cowboys/cowgirls.
