How crazy is this? We live in East Central Alabama and are under a Heavy Snow Warning and are expecting 2 to 4 inches between 4 am and 9 pm. I dont' mind this, but everybody who lives here goes crazy and you better stay off the road, because we southerners dont' know how to drive in the snow.

I will be staying as close to home as possible tomorrow :cold: (maybe watch a few Disney movies), I will send DH to the bank to cash the check. I hope I can figure out how to post pictures, well, as soon as it happens. I think they might be teasing me. Well, we never really see much of the white stuff, but we did get a little about 6 years ago about a month after I got married in December 2001.

Anyone else from Alabama and under this warning?

Suzanne princess:

Not from Alabama but I sure hope it comes on up toward NE TN and dropz a little on us.

Hey Princess Suzanne!!

We're in Auburn. War Eagle!!! I keep looking out the window, but nothing yet. My daughter will be sooooo excited if we wake up to snow tomorrow.:cool1:

Stay warm!

Molly

We had some light flurries today in Shreveport. Too warm to stick, though.

They're calling 2-4 inches "heavy snow"?!?! :rotfl: That's not "heavy" snow. That's just a little snow.

I know that you all don't get much of it, don't have salt trucks sitting around waiting and that many people in the south don't know how to drive on snow, but calling 2-4 inches "heavy snow" is just silly. When you get a foot in a manner of hours, you can call that "heavy snow."

Ya'll have your version of heavy snow, we have ours.
I get that you don't get a lot of snow, so any snow at all is a big deal.

But the fact that getting a little snow is a big deal doesn't make it a "heavy" snowfall. It's still just a little snow.

I know that if you get very little snow and what you do get melts quickly, it would be very exciting and I'm happy for you. I hope you enjoy it! :thumbsup2

LOL! When I lived in Ohio, heavy snow is measured in "FEET" not inches. --3-5 feet of snow-- that was heavy snow.

2-3 inches phht--- thats not even worth mentioning.

Well, I'm ticked, cause all we got was some stupid RAIN. I WANT SOME SNOW, even if it is only 2 to 4 inches.

It's really not "us" calling it that, it's the weathermen/meterologists/EMA who posted the "Heavy Snow Warning" and have preempted everything on NBC to show coverage of kids playing in the flakes. I am not joking. I bet there is no bread or milk on the shelves at the grocery stores either.

No salt trucks, but they have sand trucks sitting around waiting, actually.

If we got a foot of snow in a matter of hours, we would not call that "heavy snow." We'd call that a freakin blizzard.

:lmao:

That is funny how we all see snow differently. 2-4 inches is like a dusting here in NY.

Is the snow coming tonight for you (Saturday)? Have some hot chocolate ready :)

columbus resident here and i didnt even know we were predicted to get snow!! LOL nothing here though

Hey, girl! How ya been?!! It's snowing like crazy here in metro Atlanta. Going to get down into the teens tonight and the roads will be like skating rinks in the morning. :headache:

Im in Tuscaloosa it came down steady for a whle There was enough on the decks and cars for the kids to have a good snowball fight. It never obliterated the grass and its already looking like its melting. However everything is going to be wet and freeze tonight so we will be stuck tomorrow.

Blizzard of '93 now that was some snow !!

Around here everyone gets excited for the first snow fall. Warnings are posted, such as yours. Truthfully, everyone forgets how to drive and there are a lot of accidents. This usually happens in Nov.

It is Jan. This week, the weatherman mentioned snowshowers on Thursday. We got 5 inches. Everyone was disappointed school wasn't called off. I guess everyone has learned to adapt with the snow. The biggest thing is to slow down when driving.

The funny thing is that Columbus was not part of that prediction. I was fro Central Alabama from Eufaula to Birmingham and Lagrange to North Georgia. I think we had some sleet, but nothing to speak of. Could I at least see one flake, I think the snow gods are teasing me :rotfl:

It is soo cool to see so many DISers so close!!!!!

I am in Eastern VA and we have had winter storm warnings since yesterday. We may get 1 - 3" tonight? It has started to snow now.

Oh, oh! Don't tell DH that Central Alabama gets "heavy snow". We're thinking of retiring there in a few years(Oxford area) and one of his requirements is NO SNOW!
