We are "upgrading" to a king size bed. Am considering heavenly or sleep number. Looking at comfort/longevity.

The good/bad/ugly?!

THANKS!

I hated my sleep number bed. We were fine for about a year although the divider thing in the middle was collapsing within 90 days. I don't know if it is becasue we bought a queen and really should had purchased a king, the salesman did not give us any feedback in this. The CS department said that we made the wrong choice....oh well. They sent another divider to help bolster the thing. Anyway we got rid of it in less than 5 years.

I know that while there are a lot of people who love theirs, we just never got comfortable on it. I tend to sleep on the edge of the bed and the foam support seemed to sag. Now I am average weight, and DH is a big guy, over 6'6" with 55 inch shoulders. It just was not made for us.

I don't know anything about the number beds but the Heavenly bed at the Dolphin was the most comfortable bed I have ever been in:love: If I hadn't had to share it with my girlfriend, who hates to shave her legs, I never would have gotten out of it:rotfl:

I realy like the air mattres we use when we used to camp. My back feels great when I sleep on it.

Our current bed has a huge sag in each side so we are looking at as replacement. But those sleep number beds are expensive!

Our SNB was the best money I ever spent . Yes even better then my DVC membership.

I have RLS and it all but cured it.

We have had our for about 16months with no problems at all. The warrenty is top notch and I have a friend that had a few things replaced after 10 years.

It really is nice to just hit a button and adjust for what you need at that time.

When we're away by the end of the week my RLS is getting bad again to the point I can't step on the floor for a bit until the circulation starts again.

They also run specials all the time for 18 months of 0% finance. thats what we did and will pay it off this month a few months ahead of the 18.

We have had out Sleep Number bed for about 3 years now and I can't wait to get rid of it! DH feels the same way. I have never been able to find my "sleep number." We had the dual chamber bed and couldn't get use to the hump of the divider. It was recognizable for us. So we switched to the single chamber and we still don't like it. I can't put my finger on it, but it's just not right. I can certainly tell that I am sleeping on air versus coils. I am trying to talk dh into getting a new mattress, but we aren't quiet sure what to do with the Sleep Number bed because it was a lot of $$$.

We've had our Sleep Number bed for about a year now, and we really like it. Dh and I really like separate firmness, so this works great for us. I like that I can adjust it based on how I feel at the time that I lay down.

what is the least expensive way to duplicate the heavenly bed. I thought I read once a post with ways you could get similar comfort with a good mattress and some pricey accessories.

I HATE my Sleep Number bed. I spent one night at the Dolphin and I truly thought that I was in heaven on that Heavenly matress. I would love one of those.

We have had the sleep number bed for about 8 years at least. DH likes it, I think it is just "okay". I would love to try the Heavenly Bed, although we have stayed in hotels with very comfortable mattresses. I think the thing with the sleep number bed is that there is no bounce. Most mattresses, when you turn over, have a little bounce. The sleep number bed is a more rigid surface. Sometimes I wake up in the morning "achy", and I am blaming the bed...for now.

have to agree with Nancy. Same thing happened to us. We had it a year and after staying at the Dolphin for a week we decided to try the Heavenly bed.

LOVE IT! Very worth it.

You know, we would not have been as upset about it if we had gotten at least someone who offered to make it right. The CS department agreed that the queen size was too small becasue the baffle things don't allow enough room for my DH, and did agree that the salesman should have at least offered that information when we discussed going with the queen, but would not even try to do anything for us. When the plastic things that are the connections for the platform were not staying together, DH would not even call the CS department, we just replaced it.

I know that we would have assumed most of the responsibility for the comfort level, but a little responsibility from the company would have gone a long way to make it right.

We decided to go with Bob's and have been super satisfied. They told us that they would make an exchange with no questions asked if we were not happy. There would be no surcharge for the exchange, and that is $400 for a king mattress at any other store. we called with an issue, and they did tell us to come in and choose the firm if we wanted. I told them that we were concerned that I was afraid that my DH would still have a problem and was told that we could change it again.

We kept what we had, but I was impressed that the guarantee would have been honored. DH got used to it. I think after sleeping on a hill from the hump in the middle of the sleep number he was not used to a good night ;)

Hmm, you all are giving me a lot to think about! The divider does concern me, DH is a lot bigger than I am, and our kids (4 & 6) get into bed with us on my side almost every night, but that's another thread!

DH & I stayed at the Conrad last week, while their bed isn't heavenly (it could be, but the wrong hotel chain), it was fabulous! I know that the bedding had a lot to do with it, and the lack of children! ;)

I did a lot of research before I bought beds, and sadly Heavenly Beds did NOT stand up to time. They apparently fall apart rather quickly. The best part of that bed though, for me, was the bedding itself. I would rather get that separately

As for the divider, I swear to God I don't feel ours. I know that if it is put together in a slightly different way you can feel it, but if you put it in and DO NOT push down you don't feel it on the Sleep Number. We have had two (decided that after hanging on to the edge for dear life it was time to go from a Queen to a King) and I have never had that problem with a divider. My dad has our old queen and loves it.

I really wanted a heavenly bed myself, but the quality of them were just no where near what I needed for a bed that cost that much. At least our Select Comfort beds are as good as new still

Let me say this about feeling the divider .... if you spoon in the middle of the bed, you will feel the divider, but if you don't spoon it's not a problem.
to spoon or not to spoon ... that is the question

Okay, I am showing my ignorance here...

What exactly is the 'heavenly bed'. (Make, Model, etc...)
Where would you get one?

Anyone know a link?

Thanks!

We have a Comfort Aire mattress which is similar to the sleep number bed. It is a queen size with two separate controls to determine the firmness or lack thereof. DH likes his side really soft. I don't. So, I have mine hard with the result that I roll to the middle and am clawing to the outside constantly. I hate it. He loves it. Several mornings I have woken up so stiff and with such back pain I am seriously considering sleeping in the guest room. I would not buy another one. It was a lot of money even though we purchased it at a store that was going out of business.

In my case, I usually end up in the middle, between DH and 1 or 2 kids, but again, that's another thread! :rotfl:

On behalf of Select Comfort, I'm sorry to hear of your poor experience with the Sleep Number bed. I blog on behalf of Select Comfort and would like to share that we are absolutely committed to customer service and satisfaction. Thank you for providing your feedback on the bed. We are consistently working to improve our service and products. All comments are certainly welcome and appreciated. If you would like to contact me directly, please feel free to send an e-mail to leeann.rasachak@selectcomfort.com. Again, thanks for your comments.

Take care,

We have a Tempurpedic and I HATE IT!!! We looked into the Sleep numbers but, I heard and read a lot of bad review's. Never heard of the Heavenly bed. QVC sells the sleep numbers, people that bought from QVC left a ton of bad review's for the mattress.
