So we have oil for heat and the company is trying to renew our contract, which we must do by July 31. I paid $2.99 a gal last year and they are now quoting me $4.30 a gal if I sign up today. I get the oil situation but come on....

Anyone know what your companies are charging per gal this year?

That sounds really high. We don't do contracts and to us it seems cheaper since we ony fill the tank once a year just to pay the price. (we don't "top off the tanK" either)

We use Weaver Oil in Thorofare.. they are a little far from us but they seem to consistently have the best price for our usage.

A couple of weeks ago, we got a delivery at $3.69 (we only paid $3.59 because we pre-paid), but that's not a lock in rate.

We lock in a rate at a "ceiling price" But I think the price will and should go down a bit more in the next couple of weeks. If we sign up for the ceiling price that means we will never pay more than that price no matter how high it goes for the year. If it goes under our ceiling rate we will still get it for the cheap price.

I guess I will take my chances and hope it goes down before we have to sign up again. I told DH he needs to get chopping, since we should use the fireplace/blower more this year...:santa:

The gov just freed up some of the oil reserves so price of oil/barrel should be dropping. I would wait it out

I agree not to lock in at the current price. Looks like prices will continue to drop. $4.30 a gallon is far too high.

Upstate NY has cap price of $3.99 this year--was $2.99 last year also. The current price here is $3.58
