Heathrow to London hotel, Uber, Taxi, private car or whatever?

I've done both the tube and express. I think it really depends on where your hotel is. If you are near the Tower of London the tube is better.

We are staying at the Doubletree by Hilton London-Victoria which seems far enough from Paddington Station that I would probably need a taxi anyway. I guess?

Get your Heathrow Express tickets early. Ticket prices start at slightly more than the Tube, then rise dramatically closer to the actual date.

Upon arrival in Paddington station, you can connect to the Tube to almost anywhere in London.

I prefer to find a budget hotel near Paddington station, so I don't need a connection.

The TFL train, departs from the same platform as the Heathrow Express, is much cheaper and goes the same route. It just stops along the way. So it takes 30 minutes instead of 15. Here i is the info:

Also wanted to mention that I took the EBTA in September a few years back and it was cold and windy. The weather wasn't bad, but it's the middle of the Atlantic so overcast. No one was in the pools or up on decks. There were blankets at the outdoor seating around the Cove Cafe. It's not like sailing around the Caribbean. I did not have a veranda but if I did the only times I would have sat on it were when we docked in a couple Canadian ports because then the wind had stopped. I know there was another thread about this but I can't find it now. I honestly can't imagine sitting on the veranda on the sea days - so bring a blanket or jacket if you plan on this!
Also did the EBTA in 2018 and had the same experience. Still enjoyed it enough to book again this year, but our path is different. Heading to Bermuda so I’m hoping the weather will be sunnier and warmer the second half of the trip. 🤞🏽🤞🏽

It would be a 2-mile walk with luggage through Hyde Park.

Since you need to get to Victoria -
Heathrow Express to Paddington then a cab to hotel
Heathrow Express to Paddington and then transfer to Circle or District line for Victoria (This transfer is a bit cumbersome)

Piccadilly line from Heathrow to Hammersmith and transfer to District line for Victoria (very easy, you just cross the platform about 10 feet)

National Express Bus from Heathrow to Victoria - most convenient is you are flying into terminal 2 or 3

Is it hard to get a cab at Heathrow? I'm thinking it would probably be the easiest even though it would cost more.

Not hard at all
The one time I flew into Heathrow, I had to have someone at the airport call a cab for me. I landed pretty late at night (around 9pm) and there were no taxis waiting and my cell phone wouldn't work in the UK until I could get my local sim card the next day.

But, sure, they called a cab for me and it all worked out great. This was back in 2007, though. It's probably better now. Worst case, you can burn a few expensive minutes on your cell phone to call a cab if there aren't any waiting.
