Hi everyone!! We're (me & DS 15) deciding on another trip over next June/July. We last visited in August 2004 and had a BLAST!!

I used a tour company last time (Insight), but this time I've been researching trips offered by Virgin Air, Expedia, Cheap Tickets, etc. All have included airfares but most go to Gatwick as opposed to Heathrow. Our last trip took us via Heathrow. Does anyone have any preference between the two airports? We'll be staying somewhere in either South Kensington or Westminster areas if that makes any difference. Looks like all the flights to Gatwick are a few hundred dollars US cheaper. Is it because Gatwick is farther out and not as large?

Any opinions/insights would be most appreciated. I'm so excited to be coming back to see all that we didn't see last time.

Thanks for any help!!

Hi,

You'll find all the info you need for UK airports here

Heathrow is much busier and larger than Gatwick.

I prefer Gatwick, mainly because I only live about 40 mins drive away and it's easy to get to.

For yourself, I'd go to Gatwick and catch the Gatwick Express to London Victoria and take the tube (subway) or taxi to your hotel, which isn't that far away.

Thanks very much for the info. Looks like it doesn't matter much which airport we fly into. . .

Yippee - can't hardly wait to get back

Thanks again!!

It's a breezy little airport and the Gatwick Express is great. If I were you I'd fly Continental from Newark.. Good old EWR to LGW... has a nice ring to it.
