Heathrow hotel - and parking

That sounds awful, but I can only speak as I find, and last year it was superb. I can quite understand why you'd be reluctant again though.

Hi Gilld

I'm glad you found it OK. Maybe it was the bad reviews on Tripadviser that got the new management to overhaul their services; i'd like to think so anyway. I know every hotel will have their bad days, and at the end of the day, it's not too important in the scheme of things.

I will miss standing in the renaissance car park watching the planes though!

:thumbsup2

If you dont mind where you stay try priceline, you name your price and the * of hotel you want priceline searches to see if hotels in the specified area are willing to take your bid.

I have got the hilton in gatwick for £40 using this, it works best closer to the date you want the room for, too far out and you will probably not be sucessfull.

Holiday Extras are doing some good prices on un-named 4* hotels. You can chose with or without leisure facilities - would you risk it?

the tip about the free local buses is a good one. We stayed at a Holday Inn - can't remember which - and got the bus into LHR to get the tube into central London. Was surprised when the bus driver said it was free :D

I live local to Heathrow and i would not reccomend staying in any of the local hotels, they are over rated and over priced

Try the Travel Lodge at the Winning Post on the A316 ( 5 Or 6 miles from Heathrow) or the Travel inn / Lodge at the Osterley Hotel on the A4 ( 2 or 3 miles from Heathrow) for much better value for money, both have car parks / Reastraunts / Bars attatched, and the room rate i would guess would be a fraction of the £, and only a few minutes drive from the Airport.

I hope the Parkinn is good, we are booked there the night before our flight to JFK. we chose that one as it has a pool:thumbsup2 so the kids and me can wear ourselves out and sleep over the excitment :yay: the night before. i have been told that Virgin do not do Twilight checkin at Heathrow:guilty:

The Park inns fine, i've stayed there a loy, admittedly never drive though, but its good, clean and reasonably close, if i pay myself I have stayed at the novotel several times. not sure about parking facilities but they'll always be a favourite of mine as callum left his pet Gromit toy there when he was about 3 and they sent him back in a box with loads of little milks and biscuits in case he got hungry. :goodvibes

I live 2 minutes from Heathrow and my recomendation would be the quality in if your looking for somewhere close ish to the airport and cheap, if money isnt so much of an issue then the Park inn is the one of the nearest and yes the busses are free into the airport. Is was something they brought in a few years ago to stop so much traffic going into the airport. If you are in the parimeter (anywhere long the bath road) then you just hop on and smile ;)
