Heather's PJ - 8/5/08 - WP/Ariels/ Italy Isola West- added possible dress pics 8/10

Yay, your getting married on my birthday! Your propsal sounds so sweet!! Can't wait to hear more!

allright - he's a Yankee's fan - that's all that really counts!!! :rotfl2:

congrats on your engagement - what a unique proposal - i swear, the guys these days are getiing so creative! and don't worry about the details, you've got a date, a place and oh yeah - a groom! :goodvibes

Michelle :cloud9:

I wouldn't let myself start one of these until I either got my engagement ring, or hit my year mark. Thankfully my engagement ring came first :goodvibes

How we met:
We met freshman year in college when a mutual friend of ours wanted to go out with my roommate, but was too chicken to ask her to hang out alone so he invited us both to hang with him and DF. Our friend and my roommate didn't really hit it off, but DF and I have been inseparable ever since.
Our first picture together (DF is on the right, not the left, haha)

The engagement:
DF and I were with his family visiting this resort in upstate New York. We're the 5th generation of his family to go to that resort, so it's really important to his family, and absolutely beautiful! Well DF's mom had scheduled all the girls to get pedicures while DF and his dad were "getting our room and bags" aka finding the proposal spot and setting it all up. After we were done I called DF who said they were sitting across the lake and told us to walk over and meet them. I was pretty annoyed because I hadn't eaten hardly anything all day and it was almost time for tea and cookies, but DF convinced me to go with him so he can show me this gazebo that his parents carved their initials in the first time they went there. When we got to the gazebo I sat down and right across from me were our initials and 7/12/07 carved into one of the beams. DF told me I should take a picture of us since it's similar to our names that we have carved into one of the lookout nests on Tom Sawyers Island at MK.

After that he turned me around and told me to look out onto this rock in the lake, and there was a sign written on a piece of wood that said "Heather will you marry me?" I said yes :cloud9:

My ring (there are a couple more in the e-ring thread)

We've done a lot of planning so far, but we seem to change our mind on things everyday other day. The things we are sure about are -
Date: August 5, 2008
Ceremony: Wedding Pavilion @ 4 or 4:30 (I can't remember what the time slot is...)
Reception: Living Seas VIP Lounge and French Terrace for DP
Colors: Navy Blue and White (Yankees colors AKA his obsession :rotfl:)

I think that's it for now, I'll have to look through my saved links later and see if I have anything else to add!

Did you get engaged at Mohonk Mountain House??? In New paltz? I live by there...in fact we took my niece and nephew hiking there two weeks ago! Cool!

We did! I didn't think anyone here would know where Mohonk was, that's so cool.

Heather, what an awesome proposal! And your ring is gorgeous! We are hoping for August 8, 2008! So we can plan together! But, we'll be doing an Intimate/Escape, not Custom.

Happy planning! Congrats!

Invitations:

I really like these. Congrats on the engagement. Can't wait to read more.

Our guest count is possibly approaching 90, which i'm kind of bummed about because Living Seas can only accommodate up to 84 people. We're thinking about possibly moving to Bistro De Paris if you get over that number, at least it wouldn't be such a long walk to the desert party if we had it there...

Your invitations are great! The fit your theme perfectly while still being understated and elegant.

If you think your guest count will definitely stay under 100, you should still be fine in the Living Seas. We're probably going to have around 95 guests there. We're not having dancing and were told that they'd be able to accommodate up to about 120 (by adding 4 more tables to the lower level.) I've read elsewhere that even with a dance floor, you can fit 100 or 104 (by adding two tables of 8 or two tables of 10.) I posted a floor plan in my PJ if you want to take a look. But definitely talk to your WP about the increase! I was really worried when our numbers started growing, too, and my WP made me feel much better about it.

Thanks fantastic news. We're not going to have any dancing, and our guest count shouldn't go over 90. I'm glad we don't have to give up our location for 6 extra people. Thanks for the info!

Congates. I love your locations. Can't wait to hear more. Your invations are really cute.

That was such a sweet proposal! :) I love your theme and your invitations-don't be surprised if others dont' copy you! :)

That's great that you finally got in touch with a "live" person from Disney! Waiting to talk to someone was so difficult for me. You will love the wedding pavillion. As far as walking down the aisle, it can be as slow or as fast as you'd like. I ended up practically sprinting down the aisle-I didn't realize it at the time! Everybody joked that I was in a hurry to get to my husband!

Good luck with your reception choices-I'm sure there are lots of people here that will be able to give you input about the different locations :)

First off, I love Mohonk, great hiking there! (I live across the river from there)

Second, love your colors and the Yankees ;) DH and I are both big Yankee fans, and Rev. Tim actually worked them into our vows.

Third - your engagement ring is gorgeous and I love the engagement story. So cute.

Isn't dress shopping a blast?

I love dress #2.

Another vote for # 2 although I am slightly biased, it's my dress too! :rotfl2:
Seriously, they both look amazing on you. Either one would be perfect.:bride:
