Heater recs for tents?

Hi all! I am a long time Disney visitor and passholder and have camped at the Fort several times when I was younger but always in an RV. Now that I have 2 little ones and my DH got a tent for Christmas we are attempting a very short tent camping trip at Disney.
We are booked for next Thursday and Friday nights, kind of like a trial run to see how it goes. We usually only take weekend trips over anyway since we live in Tampa.
My concern is the temperature at night next weekend. Should we get a small heater, and if so, what kind? I have no idea what to look for! Also if you have a small heater does it cause big problems with condensation inside the tent?

TIA! Looking forward to getting back and introducing my kids to the fort and a yummy breakfast at Trails End!

Most people seem to have the best luck with electric blankets. Instead of trying to warm a whole tent and make the canvas hold it in, the heat is right where you want it.

And have a great time on your trip to the Fort. Not sure if you will be doing the parks too, but 2 days is barely enough time to start investigating everything the Fort has.

Electric blankets are a safer option, too. Heaters in tents make me nervous! We always (when we tent camped) put the electric blankets under us instead of on top. That way it keeps you warm from the cold under and whatever blanket you used on top would trap the heat.

Good ideas! I think I would feel safer with electric blankets as well.

I know we won't have much time there this time. We are having a fort day on Friday with Trails end, and campfire and movie. We check out Saturday and will be hitting MK after checkout. But if all goes well I am sure we will be back many times!

Ditto on the recommendation on electric blankets over a heater. As far as heat goes, a tent will not hold heat very well so the closer the heat source is to you, the better.

We just left a very long tent stay at FW and camped with two small children. We each had an electric blanket at night and had it on about 70% of the time. We also had two small space heaters that were very helpful at keeping the tent air warm. Our tent has an open screen/netting across the ceiling and a raised rain fly. I was worried that the open netting and the space between that and the rain fly would allow the heat to escape to quickly. Before we would venture out for our nightly activities, I would crank those two heaters!!! When we returned the temp inside the tent verses outside was a good 10 - 15 degree difference.

I'd have to have a heater also. I don't want to get out of a warm cozy bed only to freeze. :cold:

We just brought along the electric space heater from our bathroom and it worked fine (in addition to electric blankets). The heater kept us from seeing our breath in the morning and made getting dressed more comfy. It also added a warm ambiance when it rained.

Don't mess with heaters in tents. Proper sleeping bags and proper cloths at bed time is all you need. With the right sleeping bag and wearing proper night time cloths I have camped many nights in sub zero temps before windchill.
any heat source in these modern highly flammable tents isn't a good idea

if you want to heat your sleeping bags get hand warmers and put them in there

Go with the sleeping bag. Get one that is properly rated for the outside temperature. I camped once when it was in the 30's. The bag kept me nice and warm.

One suggestion is put your closes in the bag with you. They will be warm when you dress.
