Heartborken for a place you never been?

I wouldnt say I am hardcore Disney fan. Always loved the movies and shows though. My favorite non-animated one is Absent-Minded Professor. And my favorite animated movies are Robin Hood and Sword and the Stone. Favorite animated characters are Goofy and Donald.

I always wanted to go to WDW but never thought it possible. Too many people around me saying things like "It will cost you 10s of thousands of dollars." and "Its a rip off.". But a few weeks back I was talking to my travel agent and we got to talking about my DD and Winnie the Pooh. She told me I should take her to WDW. I immediately said I dont have that kind of money but she showed me its not like people have been telling me. Its actually a heck of alot cheaper especially with her booking the flights and such. About as much as one of my scuba trips.

Since then I have been working hard to make this happen. I met my DW back in 95 on a scuba trip in the Philippines. Married in 97 and had our DD two years ago. Working on getting them here now. Wont be too much longer. My baby's paperwork for american citizenship is a pain. Now I know the possibility exists to go to WDW I think it would be awesome if, on their arrival to the USA, they could go to WDW. I havent set the exact date yet. I want to make sure my DW and DD get here first. Last time I planned something (Last year) my DD's birth certificate ended up delayed. I do know it will probably be in October. I am a huge halloween nut. I have until end of April to set a date then.

I have gotten the trip planner DVD and a few others. Plus found this site with all the pictures. Since then I am nearly heartbroken when I watch or see the pics and think my DW and DD can go to WDW. Not to mention myself getting to go. I still remember the old Wonderful World of Disney shows that were about the parks. How they made the rides and such. So is it strange to all of you that I can actually feel heartbroken about a place I have never been? I didnt get this excited when I got my discharge papers home during my tour in Iraq back in '91.

I use to think the same way. As Canadian, it costs us even more! I always budget over $7000 for a trip. Well, we too spoke to our TA about doing a "cost effiecient " vacation to some islands. Well after getting a price at a Value hotel, it worked out cheaper for us to go to Disney !

It was to be a once in a lifetime trip, but it turns out we are going back again next winter !

October should be a cheaper time to go. Enjoy the planning!

And while you're there, be sure and check out DiveQuest. You actually go into the water in the Nemo and Friends attraction.

But yeah, you stay in the value resorts, they come out to being very, very reasonable, and you are staying at on property at Disney. In fact, I've stayed in Travelodge motels for higher prices. Then, if you are staying more than four days, the price of the park tickets is pretty good.

The other thing I would stress, after hearing the details of it from a friend who works over at the Disney Reservations Center, is to get the meal plan. That way, you don't have to worry about food and it will save you quite a bit of money.

But now, I get that feeling that I am preaching to the choir.

It's gonna be one of the greatest trips you ever take. You may not be properly Disneyfied now, but you'll find something there -- HERE that will pour the pixie dust all over you and you will live the magic.

Oh, and if you can do it, I would highly suggest getting the princess makeover for your daughter. If your daughter comes to the United States and the first thing she does is become a princess...well, what more need I say?

So October... let's see... I plan on my bus being an E-Ticket ride by then So you will simply have to come experience it.

I can tell you that it will be the most incredible experience you will ever have. I grew up going every year and took it for granted. When I took the family for the first time in 2003, to see the look and my DK's and my DW's face when the castle came into view from the ferry boat was simply "MAGICAL".

I never realized what it was like to have not gone as a kid. My wife never went but since that first trip she has become a fanatic, she begins planning our next vacation on the way home from the current one.

What a great time to go as well. The entire month of October MNSSHP is going on and the parks are just wonderful. I hope it all comes together perfectly for you!

hi From the uk its even more to visit disney!
but once there i suppose our pounds go further, our flights alone are costing us over 3000£.

My hubby thinks im nuts too always on here, but he never complains once were there and everything is arranged to perfection and things he rearly wants to do are already booked for him , as opposed to not having any space for him!

Good luck and happy planning but be careful disney is a drug.....youll always want more, i think i even get a little post trip depression, im not sure what ill be doing when im not planning or thinking disney its all i seem to do lately!!!

I always thought the same thing. I'm a single dad so money is usually tight. 4 years ago I decided to do something besides going to the Jersey shore, and found out we could do WDW, stay onsite, airfare, for about the same money. We've gone every year since.

You will all have a blast. It is an amazing trip.

This whole feeling I am getting is amazing to me. I got to go to C3 two years ago up in Canada and wasnt this excited. And I am, by far, a bigger Star Wars fan then anything else. Even have my own Storm Trooper costume. My bike has the four main sith lords on it and the Imperial logo on the front ferring. But even when I got to C3 I was calm and not really freaking out. Well up until I met Temura Morrison. Then I have to admit I kinda went nuts.

I guess its because Disney can make you feel like a kid again. Sorry to sound so cliche but dont know any other way to put it.

The trip money is ready. Just gotta set a date. Waiting to make sure my DW and DD get here first. Would hate to book everything then find out we have to wait a few months more. Plus decided a few weeks ago to save even more because I might go into WDW overload and forget to watch the expenses. heh

Reading this makes me grateful for every spontanious trip I have taken to Disney. It's so easy for me to go that sometimes I forget that people save up for years and sometimes don't even go until they are adults.

You are with very good company here. I recently just took my first trip as an adult. When we were younger my parents didn't really have the money to take us since everyone told them how expensive it is.

Now, I am a grown woman with three darling angels and the site of Cinderella's castle made cry!! I am now going through post trip depression so my dh has been working over time just so we can go back with the kids for Halloween!

I understand how you feel I have every vacation planning video since they started it back when VHS was the only option. I was thrilled everytime I saw one, but at the same time heartbroken because I never knew if I would ever get there. It made it worse for my mother because everytime she ordered the video she knew it just wasn't in the cards for us.

Well I have a great suprise for her, we are taking her and my dad with us to make up for all the years they couldn't take me and my brother! Anyone who says that is a ripoff has obviously never been. The first time I stepped onto disney property it was just magical and when I get to see the look on my little ones faces when they see it for the first time (not to mention my mom and dad) will be an experience I wouldn't trade anything for!!

No, your not alone I'm heartbroken I'm not there now, but thrilled knowing I will be there again soon!!

Being in a family of 6, we were able to take that one trip to WDW when I was 9 (16 years ago)...and now being blessed enough to have the opportunity to see WDW and all of it's magic, this many years later, has let my appreciation for the magic grow. Even more so, my appreciation to my Parents for working so hard to bring 4 kids to WDW. I am currently doing a professional internship here at WDW, and everyday I'm heart-broken that my siblings and parents can't be here in FL to share each magical day with me. It's ok, I promise to bring the magic back home to TX w/me. Your situation really hits home because we are a Filipino family that can totally relate. I hope your DW and DD will be here sooner than you can wish~

I am also beginning to annoy my friends and other family now. Everytime I find out something new I have to tell someone so I tell them. Of course this also turned out even better because one of my mates now wants to go with us. He is a diving buddy and part of our motorcycle club. He goes with me on most of my diving trips.

We both have two bank accounts. One is our main account and the other is our scuba account. I have been reffering to my scuba account as my disney account now. Well yesterday I heard him refer to his scuba account as his disney account. So I said "Whats this? Wait a second. A disney account? You planning something?". He said he was planning to go to. Of course I had to tease him a bit. "Who said your invited huh?". Funny thing is he got on his knees and grabbed my feet making a big show of it. "Please I wanna go! Please I want to meet Mickey!". hehe. But of course he can go. DD would love to have her godfather along to share in the fun. So what turned out to be just my DW, DD and myself is now 5 people. Me, DW, DD, DD's grandmother and DD's godfather.

I think we need a bigger plane. heh.
