My dad had a triple by pass in March of 2010. We have gone to WDW and flew and etc. many times since then with no issue. On the 11th he had 2 stents put in, he was home in one day and feeling fine but I tell him not to go on Splash Mountain (his favorite). He says he thinks he can, he doesn't do any other thrill rides. What do you think? Should he go on it?

Opps. edit Heart stent not heat!

Yeah, we already did. He told him to go on vacation and have fun. I don't think he has any idea what the rides are since he has never been there. That's why I ventured here....

You don't s aay how long after the angioplasty he is going to Disney. The issue isn't the stents but if the access in the groin is healed. If his Dr is okay with it then I wouldn't worry. I've had three angioplastys and have 5 stents. Other than not lifting anything over 5 lbs for awhile I was good to goin a couple of days.

we are going in 3 days actually so by the time we go there it will have been 3 weeks and a few days. He feels fine I was just worried that the drop would be too much for him. He feels like he is fine to go on it. I worry....I appreciate your help though.

When I had a kidney out several years ago my surgeon told me any warning for bad backs, pregnant women, or heart conditions would apply to be for six months. I would ask the surgeon and/or cardiologist how long he would be restricted and when the restrictions are.

I edited the title for you.

I agree with Cheshire Figment - ask the doctor what the restrictions are and for how long they apply.
A lot of people who have not been to WDW assume it is all tame 'kiddy' rides like Peter Pan and Dumbo. They don't realize there are any with restrictions ( by the way, there is a list of attractions with restrictions, plus some additional information about the attraction in the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board).

For Splash, let the doctor know that there are several short straight drops and then the major, steep high speed drop with a rapid slowing and turn at the end. You might want to take pictures of the drop and/or YouTube video of the drop to show the doctor to get a better idea of what the ride involves.

I have had open heart surgery twice. I have also had a stent. I know after the stend and still till this day 10 years later the goin area still bothers me. I go on every ride at disneyland the only one I avoid at wdw is space one how people have died on it with heaart problems don't want to chance it. I have had a premium pass to Disneyland for the last 16 years and go almost every weekend only complication I have at disneyland is I get short of breath sometimes.

Thanks. we went and are back and he was fine. He did skip Splash Mountain and after one day ended up using a scooter but otherwise was great.
