I've narrowed down my choices on heart rate monitors, and was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with either one.

Timex T5G971 Unisex Sports Heart Rate Monitor Watch - $38.99

Timex T5J031 Unisex Digital Heart Rate Monitor Watch - $65.85

I'm not sure the second one is worth the $25+ difference.

I'd appreciate any opinions.

I am not a lot of help with helping to choose between your selections. I am not a Timex fan. I teach fitness/cycle classes as well as coach runners and cyclists. I find that the HR strap tends to not work well. Some just do not communicate well, some give numbers that approximate half the actual rate, and some just flat never work. A few receivers tend to unpair from the strap and receive a neighbor's data. I would stick with an entry end Polar with a soft strap. It will cost a little more but they are the standard for the industry.
