Has anyone ever tried or is on the Heart Heathly Diet? Any pros or cons? Doesn't seem too bad. I know someone whose lost 100lbs on this program.
Anything is helpful! Thanks!

I was actually just thinking about starting the South Beach Diet for that.

I just read that it was developed by a Cardiologist originally for patients because he felt that the 'heart healthy' diets were not getting his patients to really lose the amount of weight they needed to actually help their heart.

I'm just starting this line of thought though. I don't want to get that 'South Beach Flu' thing though. So I will be eating legumes like they suggest.

I particularly need to lose weight as my good cholesterol is 20 points too low and you can raise it 1 point for every 6 pounds you lose.

Which 'heart healthy' diet are you following? The heart association?

I've read and try to incorporate the recipes and guidelines in two books:
Eat, Drink, and be healthy
Eat, drink, and weigh less

Both are by Walter Willett at Harvard. I've read more of the eat, drink, and weigh less book, and it does a good job of explaining about the different fats, carbs, proteins, etc.
I have a hard time sticking to any diet though.
