Hearing impared with hearing aids...

I wear BTE aids and as anyone with them knows you are not supposed to get them wet. Does anyone know if there is a place that says what rides spray water?

When we were just there beginning of January we saw some shows and what not that sprayed water during the show, I was not aware this was going to happen ... I was hoping there was info somewhere but I have no clue. Would be handy to just have a warning ahead of time. I am unable to take them out for each attraction since I wouldn't hear anything lol.

These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head
You can also get a caption box with a $25 deposit which will be refunded and not wear your aides. Also some shows are interpreted and if you are a signer then hearing aids are not an issue.
Personally I prefer not to use my aids in the park and use the assistive devices and interpreting

Thanks! We did the tough to be a bug and they sprayed water then we saw another show that did but by then I as aware, I just wished it was somewhere for me to know ahead of time :/

I am not a signer, I could get by it not enough to communicate fully. I thought about the caption box but we Only did a few water related things and I had a container on my neck under a poncho lol.

For one with mild sprays (like getting squirted during Muppets or Philharmagic), would some kind of floppy hat (which would help protect your ears) be useful? I know that won't help on big water rides (i.e. Splash), but will it helps for the little things?

My wife is losing her hearing (still don't know why - working on that one), so I am very interested in the answer as well!

If you go in the hot summer months - be very careful of other guests & their misting fans. They don't realize that you have hearing aids, nor do they know that you're not supposed to get them wet. People spray them everywhere without thinking because it "feels good".

I will never forget the look on a CM's face after he sprayed us at ASMusic. He had NO IDEA that we were wearing hearing aids, and gave my daughter & me a huge spray. When we both reached for our hearing aids to protect them, he nearly turned completely white as if to faint. He apologized over & over because he was not thinking. We told him that there was no harm done - but he made us promise that if they did not work later, then we would go to the front desk. We did promise, but there were no issues to report. We were fortunate. Out of the 4 hearing aids - only one had an issue when we were sprayed - but resolved itself later just by drying out.

So - be cautious if using a misting fan, please! Thanks!

Also on hot days perspiration can be worse then a mist. Be sure to take along and use a hearing aid dehumidifier. And they make covers that slip over the aid to protect them that you might want to look into. I've seen people use water balloons over the BTEs to keep them dry

I carry 2 Tupperware smidgets to put my hearing aids in and keep them safe. When I was working with deaf students I often gifted these to students to protect their aids in case of rain.

hearing aids and keep them safe from moisture, sweat, and
dirt. They can also come with cords that can clip to your clothes
for those E-ticket rides.

My husband recently received hearing aids and they have made an amazing positive impact on both of our lives! Until I read this thread, I never thought about having to protect his hearing aids from moisture at the parks. Thank you for posting this thread.
