Just wondering if anyone who is hearing that has sailed in the Magic and/or Wonder can give me any tips or pointers. Also if a hearing impaired person/group of people book a Disney Cruise line excursion (such as snorkeling for example) do they have an interpreter that will go on the excursion with them? We are sailing in a month with a group of seven adults that are hearing impaired and would like to be prepared as much as possible to make their vacation as magical as possible.

Have you requested an interpreter? I believe they need to be requested at least 45 days ahead of time. The interpreters use ASL. I didn't do any excursions because of physical disabilities but enjoyed the shows and such which they interpreted as well as their help at meals with the menu. It was very difficult to hear with all the background noise when the wait staff spoke.
Oh they normally have 2 when you reserve them. They are not on the cruise unless requested.

Yes we requested the interpreters when we booked 4 months ago. They had a lady in special services call me back to confirm. They also mentioned something about a package for the staterooms. I am now just trying to figure out if they would accompany the group on an excursion. I will cal DCL to find out. Thank you for your reply. :)

I don't think they will accompany your group on an excursion but it's best to contact DCL directly and ask to speak with special services. The package in your room includes a TTY and flashing alarm.---Kathy

It was useless for us to get a bed shaker and door bell installed. It was great the Wonnder gave us the equipment which was intended to alert us of someone at the dire or for someone at the door. Every time we close the door the alarm would go off. So we had to turn off the alarm when not in the room and but turn on when back in. The sound sensors very sensitive. But when we were in the room someone of hearing was already with us so no need really.

Oh we didn't know about interpreters! That would have been so nice for the shows!
