DH, niece & I are going to Florida this Friday (Jupiter), then driving to The Beach Club. Where can we get healthy food, such as fresh fruit and yogurt? Don't get me wrong... we'll be having our share of ice cream & chicken fingers. But I'd like to be 'good', at least for breakfast. ;)

Why not check the menus at Deb's Site: <a href="http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm">MENUS</a>

I can tell you there is lots of fruit and yogurt on the buffet at Cape May but the other stuff there would probably be too tempting! YCG has a smaller buffet that would probably have fruits and yogurt. Otherwise I'd just check out the menus:)

Easy answer--The Grocery Store!! We stayed at the Dolphin (Beach Club's neighbor) on our last trip. We stopped at Kash n' Karry grocery on our way back from the airport. We bought a styro cooler and loaded it and put yogurt, lunch meat, milk and cheese. I brought large ziplock bags from home to put the ice from the hotel in. Also there's a little convenience store on the Boardwalk that does sell some refrigerated items, and in Epcot's World Showcase there's a fruit stand. In the basement of the Dolphin, Tubbi's Buffeteria, which is open 24 hours, sells milk and other a la carte items. Of course, these places are more expensive than the grocery store.

Whoa! Thanks for the menu page! We can decide what we're having before getting down there! LOL

Thanks for the good ideas, Sherri. A styro cooler would be perfect... then we wouldn't have to pay the $10 p/day rental of the refrigerator. We'll definitely hit the grocery store.

There's a store that sells grocery items at the Boardwalk hotel, which is a short walk from the Beach Club. I know they sold Yogurt, fruit and stuff like that the last time I was there.

We also do a grocery stop and the old styrafoam cooler trick!

This way I know we get at least some good cereal, milks, fruit and such during the stay. My girls love raw vegies, carrots, grape tomato, cucumber and even green beans so sometimes our afternoon snack is fruit and vegies. Don't get me wrong, they love the popcorn and ice cream! If we are at the resort for a pool break, all I have to do is put out the fruit and vegies with a little yogurt to dip and they go crazy!!

Lots of the restaurants are offering more healthy choices now including fruit stands at each park. Most counter service places will replace carrots or grapes for the fries, sometimes you have to ask as its not always on the signage. If both my girls get a kids meal I get one with fries and one with the carrots or grapes and they share both, compromise right!

We also find at sit down restaurants the girls (7and 9 btw) will often get an appetizer, a small salad or soup instead of the kids meals. Even a kid can only eat so much mac & cheese & hot dogs!

Have a great trip.
