Healthy food options - any recommendations?

I always eat the fries if I want the fries (or ice cream, cake, waffles popcorn::) if I want them haha! I just believe in everything in moderation which can be so hard to do at wdw!!
Sometimes we just skip dinner and have ice cream. Actually we have a “table service” dinner maybe every three days. We graze most days. Love an appetizer at a lounge, snacking at F&W booths, or a healthy treat lunch like fruit or yogurt. It’s all about choices. I avoid deserts at dinner since they are usually huge and packed with sugar and tropical oils. Ice cream is a much better desert choice.

Don't believe the "you will walk it off". walking in Disney is usually slow with frequent stops. Good but not enough to compensate for eating way off your norm.

Thank you so much for saying this. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone ask this question and they get 100 replies saying "Don't worry about it! You'll walk it off!" 1. That's not 100% true. 2. Maybe you like eating healthy. How is that an answer to this question?

The Polite Pig at Disney Springs has several excellent salads and healthy sides. Their chicken is very good! Earl of Sandwich has wonderful salads and 50's Prime Time at Disney Studios has several good options. Kona Cafe at the Polynesian has a great omelet and they always let me sub the potatoes and biscuit for a side of fruit for breakfast.

I don't know how many calories it has, but the cauliflower at The Polite Pig is AMAZING. I ate it twice on my last trip, and likely would have eaten it more given the chance.

I try to hit up the healthier spots, here's what I've found;

MK: Harbor house (QS), or Liberty Tree (TS)
EPCOT: Sunshine Seasons (QS), Tangierine Cafe (QS), if you like sushi and/or tempura, the various restaurants at Japan are nice
AK: Satu'li all the way (my favorite QS in all of WDW)
DHS: Good luck (lol), but I would look at the various menus online and the offerings at Anaheim Produce and that area, for example Rosie's All-American Cafe has a fried green tomato sandwich.

For breakfast, often I get a side order of eggs, and that's it. Or, eggs and fruit.

There is a really good salmon at Columbia Harbor House.

I construct a lot of breakfasts out of sides. The portions are just too big. Also, I eat a lot of kids meals. They are much smaller and often come with a choice of fruit as a side.

Here's the thing with me and fries. Fries are maybe my #1 favorite thing in the world. However, if they're just plain old fries, I won't eat them. I don't eat them just because they are there, but if they're special fries (seasoned, extra crispy, etc.), I will.

I really think then you will be okay.

If you are used to eating in moderation, you will find yourself naturally gravitating towards healthier options because quite frankly, you will be sick of the grease and fat!

I'm positive you will find a happy medium between indulging and healthy eating. Have fun!!! :)

Truth. I try to find balance. When I do, I always enjoy my trip more.

I can't think of any place other than D-Luxe Burger that you can only get a burger. We always eat QS at WDW, and rarely have a burger (DH does once a trip or so, I never do).

I have actually been known to get rid of the bread, or only eat the inside of a burrito. I'm not a carb cutter really, but those tortillas and white bread hamburger buns are way too much sometimes. (Not at D-Luxe Burger though. Their bread is really good.)

If your trip is a while away, I'd suggest following a couple of Instagram accounts that post Vegan/Vegetarian Disney food. I'm not 100% Vegetarian myself (I live with two starving teen boys), and they post delicious looking stuff on their accounts!

I'm staying the all star sports so unfortunately don't have a gym to help work some of the calories off! I always struggle to get off of uk time so I'm usually awake at 4am for at least the first week so I might get out early and go for a walk. I know the all stars have a short running trail but due to a few dodgy joints in my legs from sports I usually avoid running... Although I am considering trying a bit of running again. :rotfl:

I used to jog but blew out both my knees so it's not an option for me any more. Thus the morning walk, I walk at a pretty brisk pace and depending on the resort, usually have to circle it at least twice to get 1/2 hour in. At Sports, you could go through all the walkways there then walk over to the other All Stars resorts and get a pretty good walk in. I rarely use the gym at the Disney resorts, I don't like people watching me in pain and bad form. I'll do my walk then find a nice quiet place and do some yoga to stretch it out. I also travel with some sort of stretchy band for strength training. I just do about 5 or 10 min. in the room.

Highly recommend the sandwich at Columbia Harbour House that is hummus, broccoli slaw, and tomatoes. So delicious.

And I'm loving the idea of getting children's meals. Especially if I'm in the mood for a burger or pizza or chicken nuggets. That way I'd eat less. Awesome tip!

Disney's made great strides in providing healthy food at many of the restaurants. Also, most anywhere you can ask for the preparation to be simply grilled, devoid of sauces etc., they accomodate quite well. And beware of ALLears.net, of late Disney has had major significant menu changes not reflected on allears/net. They seem to be lagging behind.

Another suggestion is to look at the options on mobile ordering. You will see all of the substitution options and what you can change about each menu item. I find it’s easier to order QS this way and you get exactly what you want!

We like the stands with fruit, hummus, veggies, etc. It’s so hot that these snacks taste really good! Also every QS will give you cups of water (you can ask for several because they are small).

At TS places, we aren’t shy in splitting meals or taking back leftovers to put in fridge. We often just order appetizers.

At breakfast we look for hard boiled eggs, yogurt, wheat toast (peanut butter is in condiments), oatmeal or basic cereal. We like Starbucks breakfast sandwiches too.
